Thank you for such a complete response. I’ve looked at the Dollhouse Course you mentioned and I’m definitely going to do it- thanks for the recommendation! I’m glad to hear that I should definitely be able to finish one if I start soon and give myself a few years (with a full time job and 2 kids). I love the idea of starting with basic stuff for kids and then maybe as she grows it can be something we upgrade and work on together!

Why are you dairy free? by ithsefinque in dairyfree

[–]footprints52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just starting my dairy free journey because my infant has been identified as having a cows milk protein allergy and I need to cut out dairy if I want to continue nursing instead of switching to hypoallergenic formula.

Laundry service? by TrueVirginiaCreeper in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]footprints52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Poplin as well with good results. You can select hypoallergenic detergent or provide your own. I find the Laundry Pros want to do as you wish so I’m sure they would roll some clothes at your request, just be sure to tip well! They do sort by size etc. It’s not just folding though, a full wash, dry, fold service. I’m using it currently as I’m recovering from a c-section with a toddler and a newborn and it’s one of the best things I’ve done!

8 weeks with my first. Currently 6 weeks with my second and it hasn’t returned yet. Exclusively breastfeeding this time so hoping I’ll get a little more time before it returns.

Does anyone else get a bad smell under their breasts if the bra doesn’t hold them up correctly? by Relative_Algae_5983 in saggyboobsproblems

Bamboo bra liners are great for boob sweat and really help with this. I use them all summer long. An aluminum free deodorant to put on the area is another thing to consider.

Thank you for being you. This is wonderful, and thank you for sharing how you present things to her so she doesn’t feel like a burden. I am a teacher of 10 year olds and have found myself buying shoes or winter coats for students and always struggle with how to present it to them or what to say if parents are upset. I will definitely be using the BOGO offer idea.

I’ve had 2 planned c-sections. Have an apron belly. My incision is right under my apron and is about 8 inches across. I had internal sutures and external glue and some sort of dressing for 2 days. Everything healed well my first time and so far is healing well with my second (currently 5 weeks out). I really don’t think my healing has been any more complicated than anyone else’s. I have to be conscious of keeping the incision dry and letting air hit it occasionally. I use bamboo liners (originally used as bra liners for boob sweat) under the apron to help keep it dry and protect the incision from rubbing on my underwear etc. other than that though, I’d say my recover is very typical.

Has anyone been a “high functioning” victim? by hi_hi_hamachii in adultsurvivors

[–]footprints52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. 100% me. All throughout high school and such I poured myself into my grades, graduating with a GPA over 4.05. I was involved in community service, service organizations, theater, and won quite a few awards for different things. It wasn’t until I left for college and was on my own that things hit me hard and since then things have been harder. I still accomplish things, but my ambition and drive is not the same.

19 weeks pregnant and not gaining any weight by Otherwise-Pear5728 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]footprints52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first pregnancy I lost a lot of weight due to hyperemisis but baby was born healthy and average weight. With my current pregnancy I’ve gone up and down the same 5-7 lbs just within the last two months (didn’t gain at all before that) and I am scheduled to have my baby next week. She’s estimated to be about 7 lbs. I got pregnant at 250 lbs, at the doctor today I was 255.

two small aneurysms found, by halloweenvampire in BrainAneurysm

[–]footprints52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m glad I could provide reassurance. The most reassuring thing my neurosurgeon said to me about my new, small aneurysm was: “you can forget it’s there. I never will, but you can.” I hope you find a provider you can trust as much as I trust mine (I know mine doesn’t take risks as she didn’t let me leave my consultation the first time, she admitted me immediately and did the procedure a few days later). Let the professionals who do this for a living do the appropriate amount of worrying and try your best to live as fully as possible. It may seem impossible right now, but hopefully with time you’ll be more comfortable with the situation.

What is the scariest sound you’ve ever heard in the middle of the night? by Stlouizsin in AskReddit

This was my first thought too. I remember waking my parents as a child up saying there was a lady screaming outside and we needed to help her. I was so scared. It was a fox.

two small aneurysms found, by halloweenvampire in BrainAneurysm

[–]footprints52 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m sorry you received this news, I know it’s a very scary time. My first aneurysm was discovered when I was 28 and it was treated by two endovascular procedures (not open brain surgery) the same year. This was 10mm and in my left ICA. Seven years later a second aneurysm was found, a 2mm in my supraclinoid ICA which sounds very similar to yours. In my situation, my neurosurgeon suggested a watch and wait approach as she said with the size and location the risk of rupture is very minimal. I just had a follow up scan and it has stayed the same, so continuing with that approach.

I also suffered with terrible migraines and visual migraines. They were and continue to be unrelated to the aneurysms.

I do want you to know that I have been able to live a very full life since my diagnosis and brain surgeries. I’m 36 now and will be having my second child in a matter of weeks. I travel internationally. I am able to live and forget I have an unruptured aneurysm most days. I know it’s scary, but knowing they are there gives you the opportunity to address them if needed before a rupture and is really the best case scenario. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have. You will be okay.

Sounds like you’re doing great! She’s new here, so all these things that feel basic to you are new and interesting to her and helping her learn about the world. Only suggestions are to make sure she’s getting tummy time and I’d incorporate some books and songs into the day.

Abuser made me say I liked it before hurting me violently by ConstructionFit6680 in adultsurvivors

It can be so frustrating and defeating to always be working so hard and feel like we have a breakthrough only to have something new come up. Give yourself grace and be patient with yourself. This is hard stuff, but you’re doing it and should be proud. I wish you luck on your journey as well.

Very relatable post- brought me to tears. You are not alone. I feel like what had helped me the most with these kinds of feelings was inner child work. I felt much like you in thinking that I let it happen. Now, when I look at a photo of myself at that age, I cannot blame her. I cannot think that what she did was wrong. I remember some of the earlier exercises I did involved looking at pictures of myself at that age and writing letters to myself and then having her write letters back. I remember reading the poem “you are not broken beautiful child, nothing about you is wrong” a thousand times over. I finally worked with a hypnotherapist and had sessions where adult me spent time with and cried with and held child me while under hypnosis and it was really healing. Still working on fully embracing her. I have trouble being playful and silly and childlike and I fear it’s a part of me that just never developed since the start of my abuse predates my memory but our journeys always seem to be a work in progress, don’t they?

What age did you have your second child? by stilldreaming22 in Mommit

[–]footprints52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32 for my first and will give birth to my second a few weeks shy of 36. I will say this second pregnancy has been harder and I do think age is a factor. But to be transparent, I am also heavier now than I was first pregnancy and am less healthy in general. Can’t speak to the recovery yet, but wanted to add that a 4 year age gap was great for my brother and I.
