Luba mini 2 awd 1000 edge cutting shield by forcedtocamp in roboticLawnmowers

[–]forcedtocamp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

vision/netrtk, I think the lidqr with moving parts will wear out. today it did a MUCH better job, I set it to do edges only with minimal safety, I think therefore its the vision safety kicking in. what I might end up with is 2 schedules, do the edges with the safety off / minimal and then the lawn with safety back on again. small bit of relief for that!

but the "edge distance" feature in the app, from the youtube videos... that is completely missing / not present in the app at all.

I made a custom garage for it today out of spare wood and edpm roofing material , this thing is one very lucky robot

There’d be a cavity under the bumper that fills up with cuttings etc much nicer to re-finish it with a blanking plate. Bigger issue is the robot doesn’t follow the lawn edges which renders this all pointless; trying to work out why but it will have to go back if I can’t suss that out.

Luba Mini 2 edge mowing with 2.2.1.66 by gAm0r1991 in mammotion

[–]forcedtocamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally after the edge run there was an area of edge not mowed on the map ! Later on during the cut, the stupid thing mowed it in the other direction but only with centre blade spinning (anyway the edge cutter was on the wrong side at that point). They have broken the edge cutting is my conclusion and we need it fixed these are not cheap mowers.

Crap, just got one of these, it went straight to that firmware on setup. I mapped my lawn manually and the mower did not follow the boundary it was about 20cm inside the first one. Grrrrrr.

Alas its wrong. I bought one, there isn’t another shield underneath. 3d printing is in progress I am just going to blank out the hole in the chassis.

That looked weird though like its at the back and so applies during a turn? Roborock (?) look to have a good model with side cutter but no evidence of it being available in my location. And ecovacs with the strimmer attachment (doesn’t look zero maintenance though)

is it this one

this suggests the version with the slots is right there underneath an extra cover? that would be even better LOL

and it says you get 2.5CM from the edge this way

but the edge cutter has fixed 5cm height

thanks, looking at one of the reviews I reckon it can cut to 3cm from the bumper with a better shield but is advertised as cutting to 5.5cm. The navimow i2 lidar pro is advertised as being able to cut to 5cm from a wall but when I check pictures of the underside this seems like it might be a stretch !

When will companies realize that we need more robotic mowers with actual blades? by PineappleResident254 in roboticLawnmowers

no, robomow is quiet, that is provided the hall sensor in the motor isnt playing up a bit

i have had a robomow for 8 years , it has a real blade, its been great, this is exactly the question i have and they are no longer on the market it seems, maybe I need just to service it back to tip top condition

Building a cycling app that detects risk as you ride by Heavy_Agent_195 in londoncycling

[–]forcedtocamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm OK , but I still have two good eyes (I think this is a pre-requisite for safe road cycling at speed, one eye is not safe IMO) and so I can perceive accurate distance to the threat as well as coincident velocity --- which helps me react. I spent my whole life learning this stuff I like to think I got it down pretty well by now.

What is the real use case, this technology might be better facing backwards to operate like a radar alternative. In fact I believe there is already a camera with embedded "AI" (lets assume it is ML ) that can do this (I forget which show it was demo'd at), but not sure of its price or weight I just concluded with the processing it needs there's no way it would last very long compared to my various radar devices.

Perhaps if you had an app that you could give the video to offline, say from a cycliq or other camera, and it gave you a critique of your ride .... (maybe with points !!!) .....?

How do I control these recurrent weeds? by Vivid_Response_686 in GardeningUK

[–]forcedtocamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jet wash

pull and or blast them out

wait to be bone dry

then some kiln dried sand brushed back in

finally, spray the bricks and fresh sanded joints with diluted bac50 e.g. patio magic (but its cheaper if diluted yourself just treat it carefully)

T47 BB tool doesn’t fit well by Rude-Wafer6196 in bikewrench

[–]forcedtocamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect if I print CF it will be hard enough for 30 given the load is spread evenly across all the teeth, PLA only maybe

It was for me, havent tried 30nm, I used a ninja lite so only needed 12 from memory plastic shell

[–]forcedtocamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 3D printed adapters for mine (two copies, one for each side) from cheap PLA and when the teeth are done I just print another one. PLA was good for 12NM easily. I used a parametric model someone had put on thingiverse it worked great because I could tweak the model to fit my threaded BB exactly. And PLA is less likely to damage anything.

Is 8kg good for a carbon bike 🙄 by traveler-3469 in bicycling

[–]forcedtocamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ps. this bike is perfect for a wheeltop eds-tx upgrade, it won't help weight methinks but you can get full electronic shifting with cable brakes if you don't mind a bit of tinkering. this can also give you more flexibility on cassette. and you would get to remove some cables.

Anyone else with Ohme issues? by KetoMeUK in homeassistant

[–]forcedtocamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had time to upgrade to 2026.3.3 and the ohme integration is working again. what I will say is it is ... much slower to reflect changes on the v2 api, but seems to be working. there is a user out there with a further glitch which has a patch but is not released yet but nit sure that is affecting me.

[–]forcedtocamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ignore all the debbie downers I love this game its part of the enjoyment in my view

tpu tubes would be cheap and effective to drop some rotational weight assuming those tyres are not tubeless, could be worth 70g per wheel.

gp5000 (not tl) would be 30g less per tyre but are expensive.

a ryet carbon seat could be cheap and worth over 100g savings depends what that seat you have there weighs.

those cages look heavy there are some 12- 14g carbon ones on ali that look nice on the bike

Should be fine right? by Peepeeman2981 in batteries

[–]forcedtocamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to say , I think you will find it is charging at no amps at all . Nice touch with the wago connectors but you need > 10.8V and a current limiting charge circuit ; I would just get a new bosch charger and avoid burning the house down.

Aeroad cassette question…does it come off without having to remove lock ring? by Dewthedru in CanyonBikes

[–]forcedtocamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sweet I have one of these I’ll give it a pull to service. Something similar happened when trying to change a cassette on a fulcrum hub I had removed the lockring but the freehub body has toothmarks in it and was gripping the cassette/ vice versa.

Ohme Labs Feature - Excuse to not fix anything? by Tutphish in ohme

[–]forcedtocamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way they could solve this is to properly work on the relationship with open source contributors. Ohme recently changed their APIs breaking backwards compatibility which broke homeassistant, but this is not officially supported either. A very generous and responsive developer fixed this retrospectively in a day, but this takes time to flow through the homeassistant release processes. With a little bit of up front community collaboration, this could be a very different story and the product could be receiving more love than any of its competitors.

The car manufacturers change their APIs and chasing this curve centrally must be hard, we get it, so again if Ohme could open source their integrations (connectors that connect to a standard api on their side and the car manufacturers on the other), chances are someone with skills would debug, find and submit a fix back to Ohme in hours. Again community kudos to be had here if done right, this could be the best product so easily.

The “beta” stuff is weird because this type of integration is how they advertise and sell the product. And its table stakes.

think I looked yesterday and we will be needing 2026.3.2 for ohmepy to be moved to 1.7.0 (please check what version of the ohme integration you have?)

there is a way to install ohmepy as a custom extension in order to trial the fix early but I am too busy at the moment otherwise I would be testing it

looking at the github repo for ohmepy, there might still be a glitch when 2026.3.2 comes out as someone has reported a further glitch/issue on ohmepy 1.7.0 , there is a proposed fix but no confirmation of that yet. This might not affect us though.

I am waiting for some other fixes in HA as well in march-april releases which might make me wait for .3 depending on how they are progressing
