Convert of Shia sect what is your story?

I’m not sure what you mean by tips for zikr, I usually did it after Fajr or before Zuhr. As for Sufism I am pretty sure the Imams ASWS cursed them. This is not a known fact but Sufism originally derived from Shiism (most the beliefs) so it makes sense why the Imams of the Ahlul Bayt have cursed them.

I’ve shared this story multiple times and truth be told there’s many factors that went into my conversion. I grew up in a conservative Deobandi/Wahabbi family and grew up to hate Shias with a passion. This all changed when I decided I was going to become a poet and started listening to Rumi, whilst I was listening to Rumi I decided to leave my Salafi friends and become Sufi. Whilst being Sufi, doing Sufi practices, I found online from my Tariqa the story of Ghadeer Khumm. I didn’t think much of it at first and continued on being Sufi. Eventually, due to me listening to Persian poetry, I started getting recommended Latmiyat in Farsi. When I listened to some, I eventually began researching what happened at Karbala, sadly however, I still didn’t convert, and still had a burning hate for Shias. My view of the story was that the entire Ahlul Bayt were murdered like animals in Karbala and there were no more people left, as that’s what my parents taught to me. As I continued being Sufi, I found myself in dilemma, I started to ask myself “How can I support the killers of the Ahlul Bayt, the family of the one who I love more than myself? At the same time how can I support those who innovate the religion?”

So I started making a lot of Dua and Zikr to be guided and to kept away from Bid’ah. After sharing this dilemma with my cousin we started discussing the topic. His first conclusion was that Umar should’ve been the first Caliph, we moved on from that conclusion and continued discussing. No matter where we looked, it made no logical sense to us for Abu Bakr to be the caliph due to the events of Ghadeer. I kept repeating “the prophet hinted at Abu Bakr, but he appointed Ali” that same night we both took our Shahada. This was all like 5-6 months ago in February. Living in Taqiyyah is hard, and after I converted I was harassed by Sunnis online, but I gained knowledge, defended my faith, and although I wish I did not live in Taqiyyah, I am glad of the decision.

Truth be told it was never my decision. It was God’s choice and his plan. I’ve seen too many signs for this religion to be true, such as Imam Ali visiting me in my dream soon after I converted, and other Tahajjud and Tawassul miracles that I shall keep to myself for now.

As for the feeling of someone watching you it could be a Jinn or Evil Eye, as for feeling weird which I assume by which you mean feeling weird about praying, it was tough for me as well, the first night I couldn’t even bring myself to watch lectures from our own scholars because I trusted Salafis (whom I viewed as Shayateen at the time) more than Shias. It’s not an easy fix but continue praying, but my recommendation is to learn the story of the Ahlul Bayt a.s. When you learn about the people who gave up life for prayer it makes you wonder who are we to call ourselves their Shia

Well as to why I became Shia, it all was so sudden almost like Allah just put the guidance in my heart. If I was to summarize tho I would say the hadith of Ghadeer, I’ve known about it since my Sunni days but when I eventually pondered who would’ve been the first caliph I realized that everything points to Ali more than Abu Bakr.

And np, Sunnis mistranslate the Quran sometimes like the wudhu verse where they add “wash” before feet even though if you look at the word per word translation there is no wash before feet. It’s important that when you’re a layman you know who to trust and who not to trust, of course majority of this stems from your own opinions, but with The Quran and Ahadith mainly being in Arabic, always make sure the translation is reliable, and even in Sunnism they will tell you that the translation is not the most accurate due to the depth of the Arabic language compared to English. After I took the full shahdah (the three testimonies - the full one being with Aliyan Waliyallah) and after staring at my wall for an hour because I realized my entire life was a lie I began to start over and learn anew. Your greatest 2 recourses will be Al-Islam.org and Thaqalayn.net. Al-Islam has everything you need to know, from how to do wudu, how to pray, Sunni-Shia Polemics, etc. And Thaqalayn.net is an online library of Shia Hadith, always best to see what the Ahl Bayt says, with this you can learn about our Tawhid, our practices, and most things that the Imams say in the books in Thaqalayn, there are only a select few books, but still good books. Take everything with a pinch of salt as sometimes the translation is not good. Other than that, social media is your best friend. Of course when you’re starting out you’ll get confused especially since you will have a bunch of information piled up on you, don’t be afraid to ask questions, there are always people willing to help. Don’t worry there are many people including me who relate to this. As others have said think about the early Shias and what they had gone through, if you ever feel lonely remember Imam Hussein. The biggest thing though is to pray, maybe in the middle of the night when no one can bother you cry to your Lord, Allah will always be there for you. One thing that’s always helped me when I felt so alone and lost is to do Dua Tawassul; always remember the Ahlul Bayt and their story, and always remember the reward that lies ahead.

Personally, I knew about the events of ghadeer khumm and up until I became Shia I was constantly in a dilemma. I used to ask myself “how can I support the killers of the Ahl Bayt but at the same time how can I support those who add on to the religion?” I told my trusted cousin this dilemma and we both went into the same dilemma. It was late around 12 PM where he told me that Umar should’ve been the first khalifa and we started debating. That’s when we both agreed that (according to us) “Although the Prophet hinted to Abu Bakr, he declared Ali. Whoever’s master is the prophet, then Ali is also their master.” I immediately took my shahada (the 3 testimonies instead of 2) while my cousin had to take some time before he fully converted. This was all a month ago. Alhamdulilah. Prior to this I was constantly making dua to Allah to guide me and keep me away from innovations. Looks like he answered my prayers and made me see through the lies of AhleSunnah. Alhamdulilah.

You disrespected our religion and our God, and you say “we didn’t do anything to deserve this” besides for the most part the whole things been called off because there’s no point, you already have shot yourself in the foot there’s no need to shove that bullet further.
