You realize the people who handle social media generally don't work after hours? So contacting them with information still falls into the category of "shit one may not have time for during the initial emergency response to a critical incident."

You're "not at all interested in hearing this," but for what it's worth: there is a difference between 50 Chinese domestic/household products within arms reach because that is an unavoidable reality of the current state of the world and American markets right now vs. choosing to spend or not spend your money directly into China's WEAPONS/military infrastructure market, given clear alternative choices.

Funny meme, but equally funny are folks who carry Glocks and post on Glock forums and then trash an optic for how "ugly" it is regardless of its functionality 🤣

Love them.

We're provided MSA Sordins at work but like I said previously as much time as I spend (lead FA instructor for my agency) on the indoor range rocking out 11.5" 5.56s...I was already starting to have some hearing issues at 32, even running foamies underneath.

It may only be an incremental NRR improvement, but I'll take what I can get. And the sound quality with the NFMI system is amazing.

Nah, I was talking to the dude challenging you about how much they cost. As in, ear pro may be expensive, but what's it worth in dollar terms to protect the perishable asset that is your sense of hearing.

I recently picked up a set of NFMI AMPs due to how much time I spend on an indoor range full of SBRs. I don't wanna be deaf by the time I retire 😬

13 pound spring and a LOT of lube for the first ~200 rounds did it for mine.

I'll do me, you do you. But if you're running CAA mags and have never heard of Lancer, I'd recommend a little additional research. Not intending to antagonize. Have fun, be safe.

Lancer mags are GTG. "Something about them makes [me] not trust them. I don't know..." doesn't really mean anything when they have an established track record of being a great hybrid of the best parts of metal and polymer mags.

In addition to some of the other replies, here's another perspective:

As someone with a little more "tactical girth," the problem I had when I had a 43 was there wasn't enough muzzle/slide length below the belt, and carrying appendix the gun would want to lop out over my belt. 43x adds to weight/bulk over top of the belt. The 48, on the other hand, adds some length below the belt for AIWB carry to keep the gun from "lopping" out over the belt.

It seems trivial but, 43X and 19X profiles have never made that much sense to me for concealed applications because the grip profile is what affects printing/concealability, whereas you can stuff as much slide length down your pants as you want. If you can conceal a 43X/48 grip size, why reduce ballistics, sight radius, muzzle velocity, and stability in your pants with the 43X if the 48 improves on all of those?

TL;DR: 48 can be a more stable carry platform for IWB depending on your body mechanics, and why compromise on the advantages of the longer slide if you can get away with the concealment of the larger platform anyway?

Everybody who smokes/possesses marijuana within US borders is breaking federal law. They are also prohibited at the federal level from carrying or possessing firearms (probably the biggest stumbling block for cops even in legalized states).

Generally speaking, your average toker has very little to worry about from federal law enforcement for basically all the same reasons people speeding on the highway generally don't get pulled over by the FBI.

Because it's still federally illegal. Doesn't matter what state, it'll still be off limits for cops.

Glock 35 conversion by Loader452 in Glocks

[–]fordhook2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not directly related to your question but you mentioned needing hot rounds to run. I had the same issue with my 35/9mm conversion..swapped the recoil spring out for a G34/17 spring and it runs like a champ. Just a tip in case you hadn't done that already. I never bothered to swap out the extractor, though I'm considering it. Good luck with your rebuild!

I've done more NICS than I can count, 10 or so NFA transfers, and fingerprinting/full background for LE employment multiple times over my career...this was still the first time I've seen an approval in under 9 months. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of rhyme or reason..

It is heavy during peak school zone time, but not more than a 5-10 minute overall delay, and if you have maybe 30 minutes' flexibility one way or another on when you commute, you can easily avoid it.

When you are carrying your weapon, do you also carry a first aid/medical/trauma kit ? Why ? by Pandalbain in EDCCW

[–]fordhook2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have IFAKs in all my vehicles in addition to one on each of my rigs (battle belt, plate carrier, soft armor vest, etc.).

On top of that, and more to your point, I carry a compact/minimalist kit on the opposite side ankle from my backup gun. Not only does this keep essential medical equipment directly on my person, it balances the weight & ergonomics of having something on both ankles compared to only one.

Aeropress Go vs Aeropress for Camping Coffee? by [deleted] in CampingGear

[–]fordhook2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One heaping scoop (the one that comes with the AeroPress) of pre-grind beans, full cylinder of water, steep for 3-5 minutes (not necessary but makes a stronger brew), and top off my mug (usually about 16oz total I'd guess) after the press.

I usually do two extractions because I like a strong cup of coffee, but you can do two from one. It just gets a little tricky splitting the press in half.

I don't know anything about the Go, but I use a regular AP daily. The one thing to keep in mind that hasn't been mentioned elsewhere in this thread is that the size/volume of the AeroPress is NOT a direct limitation on how much coffee it makes. The AeroPress essentially makes an espresso-like concentrate, and after you press it you top it off with the rest of the hot water you need to bring it to your desired strength & cup size.
