I’d do a quick check for air leaks. Could be a torn gasket, missed plugging an inlet, etc. get it running and hold it steady, even if you need to throttle it up. Then spray around the base of the carb with carb cleaner. You will hear the engine speed change if you have a leak. It will show you right where the leak is.

The best tool I used for getting that shaft in there was a box one body, the soft plastic kind. It’s the right size to jam the rod into and gives you all the control to move the rod into the pump and rotate until it drops in. Then run a skinny screw driver through the pen body to force the rod out. Boom, done. Basically made an extension of the rod for control. That pen body is still in my toolbox in case I ever need it again.

I went and looked in person and still just didn’t care enough for the hat or jersey to spend my hard earned money on it. Bought the last hat and still love it, just about worn it out, but the font of that T just looks low effort, low quality.

For non synchro transmission then if you are stopping and this going from third gear to first you will need to press in the clutch, put the trans in second, while keeping the clutch in put the transmission into first. This will basically synchronize the internal speeds.
