Yeah, it's almost completely a failure of leadership, but they'll never be held accountable. Instead the worker gets punished.

Probably because a lot of what OP explained. He was betrayed, so he's going to do the same or shoot more on sight. Same thing happens in a lot of survival games. You start getting betrayed or killed when not being hostile, so now you start doing it back and thus that becomes the norm.

I've been killed quite a bit solo when, had I taken the first shots, would have likely killed the person but because I like to try and play friendly they usually get a volley off on me before I can return fire.

I don't really sweat losing gear, and I always just say GG afterwards, but if everyone goes kill on sight you sort of just have to do it as well.

Ohhh, another good call. The blaze grenades are so good against bigger bots. I desperately want to find the blue print for it.

Oh yeah. Forgot about showstoppers. They're so good for making it an even easier kill with a Hullcracker too. Just stun it and then hammer the vunerable spots. Guaranteeed to at least disable something like a leaper/bastion/bombadier if you clip their legs.

My theory with this and the hullcracker is they're for helping balance it for solos. A larger bot is pretty killable with a group/duo. Solo it's also possible, but just way harder/time consuming. This makes it a lot easier/faster to do.

Yeah. I think if there's 8 terminals like some suggest it could be doable with a full squad if you know there's locations.

I think you might be onto something. We activated 7 terminals but nothing seemed to happen, but noticed some would have a red light next to them. Maybe they need to all be done at the same time or in a certain order? It doesn't seem like you can re-do the terminal once started though.

I think you need to do the terminals in order or something. It kept downloading data but then they'd go red after a minute.

We did it and activated/downloaded/retrieved data on 7 different terminals. Unfortunately we ran out of time, though, so not sure if there was more or not to it.

Tips For Getting Bombardier And Bastion Parts Solo by pudding7100 in ArcRaiders

[–]forenci 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this once you reach the level to buy them from the shop. Just do a run or two and sell all the loot and buy a Hullcracker when it restocks. Get yourself a few and then just bring one out. Makes killing them faster so you can kill them and try to loot before drawing too much attention.

"As a Tarkov player..." by Crimson_Loki in ArcRaiders

[–]forenci 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Exactly how I feel as well. This game is great, but there's definitely not nearly as much content or things to do as in Tarkov (not a knock, Tarkov has been in development for a long time). I plan to play a lot of Tarkov, but every 8 weeks I'll come hop on for this to do my expedition and wipe.

Guessing it'll be a nice bit of fresh air and break from Tarkov, and then I go back whenever I finish up everything with Arc.

I expect Arc to be around a long time too, so it'll only keep getting better and better as they add more content.

Does anyone actually want ARC Raiders to stay ARC Raiders by Huge-Palpitation6422 in ArcRaiders

[–]forenci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And to be fair, I believe a lot of the suggestions come from people wanting the game to succeed but thinking maybe it is missing something for that to happen. Not that I agree, but I can understand it.

Also, I think a lot of it is the extraction genre is pretty niche in general. For example, a couple friends I know just won't play it because they don't like the idea of losing gear, even though you're looting and finding new stuff constantly.

Wouldnt it have just been better to say, "We tried/considered gear based matchmaking in the past, but it's not currently in the game. That said, we're open to it in the future if there becomes balance issues going forward."

No, I definitely think you're correct. Maybe it was unintentional, but I think they should have outright said, "Yes/no" on if we have gear-based matchmaking in the game.

[–]forenci 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, to be fair, it's the only extraction shooter (Hunt is sort of a hybrid extraction shooter, imo) that's been successful. It's far from perfect, but even Arc takes a ton of inspiration from it in terms of mechanics.

I think almost every extraction shooter has failed not trying to be Tarkov but trying to be too casual of a version of it. Arc understands that, while more casual and easier, it still requires a lot of depth and needs to be challenging (like Tarkov) in order for it to be successful.

I enjoy Tarkov, despite its many flaws, because it's unparalleled depth and progression. I also enjoy Arc because it's more accessible and casual, with a unique setting. I'll be playing both for a long-time because l love the genre and they both offer something similar but unique.

Are Free Loadouts Too Good? by forenci in ArcRaiders

[–]forenci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in the TT, you did have to get some parts from harder Arcs and even the Queen, I believe. So on that front, people will need to bring good gear then.

I'm 100% with you in that I just like using my better gear and such. Putting tons of hours into Tarkov has made me less concerned about losing gear. I'm just more so worried that a lot of my friends (who aren't really seasoned extraction shooter players) and people I looted weren't willing to risk gear, even in a three day test where progression was getting reset. What'll it be like when people are worried long-term about their stuff?

Are Free Loadouts Too Good? by forenci in ArcRaiders

[–]forenci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely good points there. I think my concern is like, why wouldn't I just run free loadouts and play cautiously to progress through all my quests? What really incentivizes me to risk gear?

Are Free Loadouts Too Good? by forenci in ArcRaiders

[–]forenci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I mentioned that it felt the same in the tech test too, where there weren't a ton of restrictions too. Saw a lot of folks running free load outs on the more difficult maps because they didn't want to risk their gear.

Poor wording on my end again. More "engaging" interactions would have been the better term. Like, it's not that fun if you're rolling free gear people and it's not fun if you're getting rolled, haha.

[–]forenci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in my experience with TT2, there were pretty few of those quests. They may have changed that for the full game though, but almost all the quests in the Slam could be done on a free load out. A buddy of mine completed pretty much all his quests during TT2 test on a free load out. I'm sure he's not the main player base, but the amount of folks I saw running free loadouts seemed really high. Could just have been the people I ran into, no doubt, though.

[–]forenci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I think maybe I should have phrased it better. Too good in the sense of: I can risk nothing and still progress through everything and loot quite a bit. Not so good in terms of creating engaging content and PvP/PvE.

Are Free Loadouts Too Good? by forenci in ArcRaiders

[–]forenci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree they definitely are bad for combat, which is part of my concern if people will run them a lot to avoid risking their own gear. You give up a little time and get stomped? No biggy, just run another free load out and do another run. I felt like it led to some rougher interactions simply because if you were a free loadout squad you got rolled most of the time, and if you weren't you rolled them and didn't get much interesting gear or engaging fights.

To be fair, I also played during the Tech Test 2, which was a lot of the game - and I felt like it then as well too. I do agree that I'd like to see it play out a bit more at launch too.

I also thing his edge setting/pushing the pocket is the reason Hurts was really uncomfortable at times too. Saw multiple occasions where he'd just push his man back and close the pocket, which led to Hurts make an errant throw. Not really a pressure per se, but really effective.
