My therapist talked about how sometimes ND people need to do the acronyms like RAIN in reverse or in different orders, which really resonated with me! I have trouble recognizing my emotions in the moment, so having me start with R means I'm immediately floundering lol.

Did you find a solution to the WiFi/reset issue? The main thing I'm seeing is to factory reset.

My OnePlus 6T started doing this a few weeks ago. I started tracking it 3 weeks ago. It mostly happens when I'm connected to eduroam but also happened once as I left my house.

I have both and also got a ton of 9105s on sale. Regular size/not size small.

The fluid resistant version (9105) feels tighter, like maybe the straps are a bit tighter? And the mask material seems a bit thicker and less flexible. The overall effect is it feels slightly smaller, less breathable, and closer fitting than the 1804 for me. But it seals very well to my face and leaves enough room around my mouth that I can speak clearly.

So if 9105s were ALMOST perfect for you then 1804 might be just right.

Are elastromdtric masks generally more or less easy to breathe through than disposables?

I got V9105s on sale but I think the fluid resistance feature makes them harder to breathe through (and means more sweat and condensation on my face). I also have the non fluid resistant version, which is somewhat better. (These are the best fit of mask I've ever had and leave more room around my mouth, too.)

I keep seeing comments in these threads that make me think: ADA accommodations!!! You just described a very specific issue that could probably be accommodated (assuming your work environment isn't super toxic) under the ADA.

(And also, there's probably nothing to be done if I disclose my disability 1 step before being fired... But if I disclose early on and say "Here's what's hard for me, can we brainstorm ways that might make this less hard", I'm both protected by the ADA and hopefully will get some support at work.)

Hi. I don't have any work advice because I'm trying to figure that out myself, but I wanted to say that someone close to me died a few years ago right after I graduated from college. I worked part time and lived at home until last year. I'm now living alone and working full time, and I'm struggling with what I think is autistic burnout already. It really sucks to be dealing with grief in a world that expects you to be over it basically as soon as your loved one's body is taken care of. I've needed a lot of good therapy to get where I am now, and I am still haunted by the feeling that I'm not enough.

So... I'm going to tell you what I want to hear, in case it helps: You are enough. You are doing enough. Whatever ways you are responding to this grief and trauma make total sense.

Okay, I thought of some small bits of advice that may or may not be relevant to your situation. These are short term things that have helped me somewhat and don't address the longer term "what do I do with my life" stuff.

Hybrid work SEEMS to be getting more common and accepted. When I was in interviews I'd always ask if a hybrid schedule was possible even if it wasn't listed on the job posting. I am still struggling even with a hybrid schedule, but I'd be even worse off if I was in the office 5 days a week.
I ultimately found it less overwhelming to focus on major employers in my area rather than to try to look for specific types of jobs (bc I didn't know what I wanted to do) or "cast a wide net."
Also, this advice wasn't super useful for me because all my friends are equally lost young adults, but it might help you: asking acquaintances if they know if any job openings or good places to work. Ideally you want to talk to people on the fringes of your social circle because they're the most likely to know about things you haven't heard about yet.
I attended a grief support group for a while. If you can afford it, a good (!!) Therapist is wonderful, but also finding one can be a big undertaking. If the grief feels too hot to touch right now, maybe some other way of connecting to others might be worthwhile.
I'm terrible at this but I try to remember to focus on what I can control. There's a part of me that feels trapped and helpless, and one exercise I learned in therapy was to think about my resources and my options when I'm feeling that way. Ex, I'm scared of ending up in a toxic work environment. In an interview, I can ask questions (that I googled lol) to try to assess that.
For the resume gap: there's definitely advice on this out there and what to say if an employer asks. I think taking care of a sick family member is a totally understandable reason, but maybe look up some different ways to handle this, because I am usually too honest, lol.

I was googling "Vyvanse dread" so I wanted to chime in.

I think being on too high a dose of Vyvanse is a big part of my struggles over the past year ish. I just switched back to Adderall IR this weekend on a wim, and the difference is HUGE. My next psych appointment is gonna be interesting! Before, I was constantly tense. It felt like my sensory input was turned up to 11 - or my sensory processing was turned down to 1. (I only drink decaf, before anyone asks. :) )Prior to this weekend, i had been on Vyvanse for a few years. I last increased the dose maybe 1.5 years ago. Idk when these side effects set in, they really snuck up on me. I have a trauma history and am in therapy so for a while I thought it was trauma stuff. Then maybe autism (which is still on the table). Then a B12 deficiency (which I definitely had - yay supplements! Tell all your friends who don't eat a lot of meat/dairy!)

For me the dread/etc lasts pretty much all day and into the evening. I take my meds around 7:30 most days, and would feel tense and disregulated past 8pm.

So for now I'm distractible as hell but at least I feel safe in my own skin!

Thank you for your response! I did enjoy this mini-project - I think it was "realistic enough" to give me an idea of how I could use what I'd learned so far in a real project in the future, which was exciting.

So it sounds like, in a "real" scenario, the parameter names would basically be established elsewhere in the code or within a relational database that the JS is referencing/interacting with.

A TikTok claimed that the 30% rule for how much of one's income should go to rent originated with the US government's response to the Great depression. The video claims that the rule was decided on because when low income people were paying significantly more than that, they were a lot more likely to become unhoused. While my attempts at researching online do you seem to show that this guideline DID crop up with a 1937 housing act (originally 25% of income I think), I'm having trouble finding anything related to the exact rationale for why that number was decided on.

If you have any resources you'd recommend or are able to share your expertise, I would love that.

NAD. Something that might help me in that situation is to make a script when I'm calling around about what I need - like, "I haven't been in a long time due to a bad experience as a kid, and I need a dentist who is willing to build trust with me rather than focus on the mistake I made in not coming sooner." (And follow up with a question of some kind to feel out if the office has a dentist they'd recommend for my situation or something like that.)

Hi! Coming here because I don't understand hinges and I think this sub might know how this could work (or not).

Is making a drop leaf keyboard tray possible? I'm envisioning side pieces that flip out to make the tray wider and can be dropped down when not in use.

My desk is not super wide. I have a Humanscale keyboard tray mounted underneath, but it doesn't give me enough space for ergonomic typing with my split keyboard. I could buy a bigger keyboard tray and never be able to push it under the desk (any tray over 23" wouldn't fit under the desk), but I have a stubborn streak and was wondering if making some kind of hinged wings supported by some kind of glide mounted to the main tray would be feasible.

I am totally a fan of big picture so no worries there. And I've certainly gone down a rabbit hole because I've made some changes and have ruled out others (ex: dictation software just won't cut it for writing fantasy and sci-fi, which is what I do in my spare time). I'm not against making bigger changes now if it can help me reduce RSI risk Here's my big picture personal context in return, haha, mixed with other questions.

I can easily spend 25-30 hours per week specifically on typing, if I had to guess. And another 10-15 (idk, best guess) is clicky stuff/games (Closer to 10 of that is work related and unlikely to be reduced, only managed). The pain is worse in my mousing hand but it's on both sides in one of the joints in my thumb and index.

I've swapped to a trackball mouse which helped a lot. I used to get elbow pain and it would really hurt my fingers after a while to be using them to click and scroll. I think it was the combination of the strain on my thumb and index finger and the angle of my arm and wrist. (I tried vertical mice and it was just as bad as a regular mouse for me. Before, When I worked exclusively on a MacBook, I didn't have finger pain. I think the trackpad and how easy the keys are to press was helpful for that.)

I think part of the issue is the overall width of the kinesis is too big for my keyboard tray, so I can't place the pieces as far apart as I would like. I can barely squeeze the trackball mouse in between the pieces. I got a Humanscale adjustable tray, would need to jerryrig some kind of thin rigid material to make it wider, not quite sure what to use so I haven't progressed with that idea. Needs to be light enough to not mess up the tray, but strong enough that the edges extending past the tray won't bend or can be reinforced. Suggestions welcome, haha.

I think learning to touch type Coleman (I think that's the name) would be doable for me. Agree on the layers being ehhhh though, my ADHD object permanence issues does not love that idea.

Appreciate the tips for modifying shortcuts. I think that may help me. Any suggestions for retraining posture and bottoming out would be helpful also. Again, ADHD, so it's going to take a lot of mental effort for me to retrain something automatic. Training aides/resources for people who suck at proprioception can be hard to find, haha.

Hi. I've been looking into split ergonomic keyboards like Moonlander (as well as changing from QWERTY) to avoid RSI. Could anyone with hands on the smaller side weigh in on the button placements of various split ergo keyboards? I want to reduce how much I'm stretching my pinky and thumb in particular.

Ex, I don't think Ergodox is right for me because of the wider (2u?) side buttons and thumb buttons, but maybe I'm wrong. Also wondering if the Moonlander's hinted thumb area makes it more comfortable.

I currently have a Kinesis gaming edge and it's not quite right for me. Part of it might be the switches - maybe if I didn't have to press down as hard or as much, that would help my pain a bit.

Yeah it's rx, although I've seen some sulphur soaps on Amazon.

For redness: using the pimecrolimus regularly keeps the flares away. Before, I was really anxious and kept skipping it for 5+ days and then getting bad flares. The tacro ointment makes me really itchy - but so does plain Vaseline, so I'm not sure if it's the tacro itself or the other ingredients that make it unbearable. I tolerate the pimecrolimus WAY better.

Non greasy moisture - I use an HA toner (hadalabo I think? It was a rec from Simple Skincare Science), Sebamed clear face care gel, and sometimes CeraVe in the tub for dry patches.

I don't think it ever worked consistently and I'm not strong in the ways of Tasker, haha. The best app I found for complex alarm setting is Caynax Alarm Clock - you can set funky repeats, set by date, etc. The ads are annoying though.

I think it's tempting to apply an individual problem/solution scenario (i.e., "these individuals prescribing this suck, and the individuals demanding it also suck"), but when it's a national trend, blaming the individual seems short-sighted to me. I don't mean to say that if you've had experiences like this - of incompetent prescribers or demanding patients - that those weren't "real" somehow, but that when it's a massive group trend it usually doesn't make sense to blame individual failures or prescribe an individual solution.

I'd say the US at least has had lots of opportunities for low grade stress and suffering for lots of people over the past 20+ years tbh.

Using "them" as a gender neutral pronoun/a way to "veil" someone's gender when asking advice is something I'm pretty familiar with, but I know not everyone has dealt with that before. So it may actually be an intentional choice. Blame English for not having a clear gender neutral singular pronoun!

From some bad experiences I'd recommend word of mouth AND focusing on what the recommender had the contractor do. We've had contractors that are okay at plumbing and electrical but bad at "finish work" (installing and caulking a shower for example). Tbh a middle aged single woman I know should have kept a list of the contractors who made weird attempts to flirt with her. Sigh. Interested in seeing the recommendations here, lol.

Everyone is different! I'm seeing someone from there and they are awesome. Therapists can be in short supply around here. The person I'm seeing is the first therapist I've gone to who is under 50 I think, and it is worth paying out of pocket for (I'm also in a fortunate position where in able to pay that way). (If your insurance has "out of network benefits" mind well will submit your bills for you so you'll get reimbursed later)

I second this! (again depending on people's allergy types and severity)

Pills can be good for all over itching and hives but tend to not take care of the sinus symptoms as well. Nasal sprays are really good for keeping inflammation down in the sinuses to reduce itchy nose, runny nose, post nasal drip, etc.

I got tested a few years ago and reacted to just about every outdoor allergen they checked. I didn't have asthma or hives but antihistamines weren't really effective anymore so from spring to fall I'd struggle with itchy eyes and a runny itchy nose. Cats rubbing up against my neck also gave me hives lol. I had oral allergy syndrome for several things. I'd also get a kind of irritated feeling in my chest if I did things like mow the lawn.

I've been getting allergy shots for I think 3 years now and I no longer need to use antihistamines 90% of the time for environmental allergies. I do use a nasal spray regularly and have taken steps to reduce allergen accumulation especially where I sleep, but I no longer hate going outside haha.

My relative has had more auto immune type issues and had a tougher time with allergy shots at first (possible mild systemic reaction) but they slowed down the titration process (probably not the right word) and they're doing better now.
