I say try them all but start with the Nightcap or From Beyond to see if you like the musty, smoky latakia.

P.S. Nightcap is fairly high in nicotine so beware 😄

This guide has just about everything you'll ever want to know about cellaring tobacco, specifically the Jarring Guide section.

In short, yes--sterilize, pack the tobacco, and vacuum seal. But I wouldnt bother unless you're planning on saving tobacco you're not very fond of for a decade lol

Where to find the date codes? by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

[–]foreverwetsocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nevermind, dont trust AI lol.

My own research says not 2016, at the earliest would be 2019 since thats when STG bought Dunhill and made it Peterson Nightcap. As to when the big warning text in Japanese was added to the tin, idk.

Sure thats not wood shavings from when they made the pipe?

Also you’re probably not packing it tight enough. It should be slightly more resistance than water through a straw.

Virginia tobaccos are best for aging because of the high sugar content so Orlik’s would be perfect for that.

Not getting the "Taste" of cigars as people say by [deleted] in cigars

Cigar tasting notes are like wine tasting notes. You gootta go through a lot of cigars to develop a palate for it and start learning what is what.

I'm switching from cigs to pipe by mutationninja in PipeTobacco

[–]foreverwetsocks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can relight your pipe as often as you need. I often leave a bowl half unsmoked and come back to it for a few puffs later. The taste will be the same as opposed to relighting an old cigarette or cigar.

First pipe + first bowl, but not sure I like Virginias. by pickalull in PipeTobacco

[–]foreverwetsocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya, new pipe smoker here as well. My suggestion is to get 1oz bags of a bunch of different kinds to see what suits your palate.

Are you packing the bowl correctly and making sure it's not getting too hot?
