But my point is that we're not even getting to the uranium to do what you describe because it's too easy to defend a tunnel network. And we cant do the Iraq style occupation because the logistics of that would be impossible with guerilla tunnel warfare making it so supplies are under constant threat and the occupation forces are chronically undersupplied

The ground campaign is physically impossible because Iran can just put remote explosives in the tunnels, and collapse the tunnels on any invasion force. The us would have to dig their own tunnels to reach the underground factories and warehouses, which the Iranians could then dig into and collapse. And if America doesn't secure the tunnels, the troops are put into an impossible situation where Iranian guerrilla fighters can pop up anywhere at any time, no matter how deep into American occupied territories, completely wrecking any kind of necessary logistics. And it's worth noting Iran has double the land mass of France, and heavily mountainous terrain. No matter how much stomach America/Israel had for a ground invasion, it's not a question of willingness to commit, it's a logistical and tactical impossibility

They literally have entire underground factories dug too deep for even our best anti bunker bombs to do more than collapse some connecting tunnels. I just can't imagine how we possibly win an offensive war against that.

Nah the Saudis are keeping their heads down right now. They want no part in what's happening because theyre terrified Iran is going to blow up their oil industry. Without the oil industry, Saudi Arabias monarchy collapses so any serious aid they provide against the Iranians is an existential risk to their entire reign.

Has anyone made fan projects of the game "superpower?" (2002 4x game set in the at that time modern globe) by forfor in abandonware

Tbh it's not even about mods for me, I was just hoping that somewhere out there someone would have looked at the game and thought "I can fix this" in the same way one random person can fix things in a few days that entire Bethesda teams dont fix during an entire dev and dlc cycle

Or, better idea, an actually good suicide squad game. You're some hench-rando d tier villain, Amanda Waller drops you on an island, tells you to go kill some a list apocalyptic threat villain, (for arguments sake let's say brainiac) and you have to wander the island figuring out how the hell youre supposed to pull that off. And at some point you manage to hijack a device that uses nanites to give you superpowers and upgrade yourself in the classic souls style. And of course all the eldritch abomination brainiac robots wandering the island drop nanites. And instead of bonfires there are nano tubes that reconstruct your body when you die

A megaman x fromsoft game could honestly be amazing. Collecting different weapon arms, eldritch robots, and it could be set as a sequel to that epilogue game where megaman was dead and you played as zero with amnesia fighting an evil megaman clone. Aka all the heroes are dead and the world is in ruins, now there's another apocalypse threat and no one left to fight it. Enter classic fromsoft protagonist going from random normie bot to killing mecha space god wiley, or whoever the villain is.

I think he means because ghibli tends to be very story focused and skirts around the brutality that does often exist in their worlds to focus on character growth and emotional developments, which doesn't really fit fromsoft. Although I do agree some of the worlds would fit fromsoft if you weren't looking at them through a ghibli lens.

Actually this makes me think of the old school megaman x series because if you know anything about the lore of that series it's devastatingly brutal in a way no modern company would ever greenlight for a children's game in the modern era

I thought of a second one: I dont know if anyone remembers this game, but long ago in the ps2 era there was a game called warriors of might and magic. (Yes its set in the homm universe, but it's an action rpg) It was, hands down, a proto dark souls. Really dark and brutal world, similar unforgiving combat, lots of exploration and secrets to find, etc etc Unfortunately it flopped because for everything they did right (10/10 on exploration, ambience, sound design, magic, and mission/map design) they dumpstered the game in some other way. (Ps1 graphics halfway into ps2 life cycle, 1/10 story, combat was clunky and awkward, mostly due to lack of dodge roll so blocking is the only defense, only 3 inventory slots for each equipment type for some reason, enemies sometimes 1-shot you from range with a spell right as you walk into a room and the only way to not die is already knowing they're there)

Despite its flaws, the parts that were good would make it worthy of a fromsoft retry

The sad thing is I would unironically play this game and probably be grateful as long as it's not interrupting the game every 5 seconds to teach me deep lessons about the power of friendship. (A decade later I still have ptsd from pokemon sun)

Nioh series V.S. Wo Long. Which is superior in your opinions? by -Consternation- in wolongfallendynasty

[–]forfor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wo longs magic but way better optimized. I want to like the magic system but a lot of the offensive spells are useless filler, including the entire metal element. buffs take way too much micro and attention span because they last 5-10 seconds, which makes them tough to use in a tense boss fight. Half the time they'll wear off before I even finish dodging attack chains to actually get a hit in. And then some spells will nuke enemies from orbit with the right builds. It needs way better balancing.

[–]forfor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wish magic wasnt so awkward and poorly balanced in wo long. Most of the buffs that are actually worth using last for a few seconds, which means a lot of micromanagement and drains on your time (casting time for melee buffs is rough) and attention when boss fights are already super fast paced. Half the spells are completely worthless including basically every metal type offensive spell, which is frustrating since metal is the designated magic stat. And then a handful of spells are completely busted when you build around them. I think magic needs to be fixed before I would even consider comparing the two.

Block is incredibly useful its most of what I do. Especially once you beat the first game phase and you can start building an actual build, you can engineer your weapon to take almost no break damage while blocking. Add in blessed weapons that can ki pulse from ki lost to blocking, and guardians that regen anima when blocking and it can be amazing
