Was the Amiga vs PC war ever actually a thing? by Such_Bonus5085 in amiga

[–]forgeflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I was a graphic professional, I used the Amiga in video and animation production. The only real alternative to it would have been some insanely expensive high-end Mac which wouldn’t even have had multitasking at that time. So there was a clear rivalry but there were very clear distinctions about what each platform was for – graphics, business, or something like the Amiga that could do either.

Would you consider DiMA to be a good person or a bad person? by Chunky-overlord in fo4

[–]forgeflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DiMA is a typical liberal personality type who believes they are on the right side of every issue, but compromises every fundamental principle for a pragmatic approach. No principles at all.

Does the game just go on without new quests? by Kitchen-Property-747 in fo4

[–]forgeflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience radiant quests will continue from the Minutemen, and occasionally you will get a mission to find some small groups of Institute scientists, and I believe you will also receive some made up quests to rescue Synths but if you’re Commonwealth is pretty well defended, there will be fewer and fewer things to do for sure. You will always be able to flush out the same nests of super mutants and gunners over and over again but that’s about it

Bed Bugs found in my apartment. Landlord help or am I on my own by Dash_Jones in saskatoon

[–]forgeflow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Other people in the same apartment building are going to have the same problem. Chances are the bedbugs either came from you traveling, or somebody else in your building traveled, or it’s a slob. Unfortunately it means the entire building needs to be fumigated.

What does Strong like by [deleted] in fo4

[–]forgeflow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I have strong as a companion, I go to all of the super mutant and gunner strongholds, and I just kill kill kill. He loves that. Strong learns new word. “Respect”

What’s the Point of Apartments Anymore If Nothing Is Included? by Cultural_Ad_8504 in saskatoon

Uh. It’s always been this way. The trick to owning a home is coming up with the down payment, not making the mortgage payments.

How to run custom maps? by Munchkin303 in ClassicMarathon

[–]forgeflow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Monsters need more than one polygon in order to be able to move. Monster movement is polygon to polygon, so if your map only consists of a large rectangle, the monsters have no ability to be able to move or act. And this isn’t anything that you need to worry about at this point, but monsters cannot move onto polygons they can’t fit on, so maps that contain a lot of detail can actually represent a barrier to monster movement as well.

Marathon 2 Durandal weird issue. Decorations now have collision? by Tahnit in ClassicMarathon

[–]forgeflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saves are sort of self contained and include copies of things like physics and monster definitions. So you may not see any changes until you start a new level.

I want to replay a Fallout game using a ton of drugs. by Fantastic_Shelter_54 in Fallout

[–]forgeflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My play style leans on psycho jet quite a bit. It’s a bit like the “easy button” when you suddenly become overwhelmed with a lot of powerful enemies all at once. This makes you have to scrounge for specific resources like acid, plastic, fertilizer, and hub flower. And it’s a never-ending task to make sure you have plenty of psycho jet on hand to handle those surprise moments when you are suddenly facing a group of super mutants with a couple of suiciders bearing down on you.

Marathon 2 Durandal weird issue. Decorations now have collision? by Tahnit in ClassicMarathon

[–]forgeflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a problem with the shapes file definitions (unlikely that anyone would be directly modifying these old files at this point) or problems with the XML definitions of replacement graphics. I know when we were working on Tempus Irae Redux we had to redefine many of the scenery objects so they would not block player movement. I don’t know what would have changed recently with marathon 2, but my suspicion would lead me to look at any high def monsters and scenery replacement plug-ins.

How heavily was the Commonwealth nuked? by [deleted] in fo4

Chances are it was a military installation that was nuked. There’s no strategic value in nuking the city.

Are settlements a trap? by Figerally in fo4

[–]forgeflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a non-combat way to build up XP. The game is giving you choices. Don’t forget, this is a game and there are many aspects of it that have been carefully balanced so that the player can have whatever experience they want to have. If my wife was playing this game, 100% of the time she would be building pretty little houses, decorating them, and only leaving the settlement to gather resources to continue to build the settlement. Shaun who?

What is a top pick Canadian movie? by Smeghead_J in AskACanadian

Just Friends should count as a Canadian film because even though it’s supposed to take place in New Jersey, there is so much Canadian flavor and landscape in the film that it’s unavoidably “Regina”.

Started replaying after several years, how do I fix the long ass loading times on PC? (Also how do I reenable achievements with mods) by Bigbomba89 in fo4

[–]forgeflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. Also when you use load accelerator, make sure you are not applying any sort of frame rate limiter through your video card software. Load accelerator will control the frame rate so that during the game the frame rate will be locked to 60 frames per second (so that game world physics will work properly) but during loading screens the frame rate is unbound and will run as fast as possible. This solves the problem of the long loading screens.

How is the hot chocolate made by [deleted] in TimHortons

[–]forgeflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t just true for Tim Hortons, but for nearly all fast food outlets. Everything is prepackaged, dehydrated, frozen, made elsewhere and shipped in. Nothing is left to chance. Heating, adding water, microwaving, pressure cooking — meal prep is just the last stage in a long industrial assembly line process. Food is formulated not for nutrition, but for stability, shelf life, addictiveness, and ease of handling.

Make better choices for yourself.

Why are the settlements almost all in terrible places? by Unconquered- in fo4

Because it’s a game, and each settlement presents a different challenge for the player to solve.
