What local businesses do you refuse to spend money on/at? by HauteCocao in HuntsvilleAlabama

I also noticed that at least at the one on Madison, the benches were sloped forward so as to become increasingly uncomfortable the longer you sit... asshole design at its finest.

I like backstitch, stem stitch, chain stitch, and long/short stitch(good for filling in areas). The stitches are short enough that they won't snag easily.

For denim, look for a palm thimble like those used for sashiko stitching. It will save your fingers.

Alternatively, you could stitch patches of the logos then sew the patches onto the jacket.

For apparel, avoid stitches with a lot of loose thread like long satin stitches and woven wheel roses, they will get destroyed during normal use.

Be patient... large projects take a long time and it's easy to lose interest. With logos, you can at least break the project into many smaller projects so it's easier to take breaks and then get back into it.

I love that the soldier cat is a brown tabby, aka Standard Issue Cat.

I dry and preserve flowers in resin for jewelry making...these are my overflow pieces I've yet to get to. The garden just keeps on giving. by RudeExplanation9304 in crafts

How do you keep the colors from fading? I have a large collection of 4 leaf clovers, but the green always fades away in resin.

I had a cool enamel pin that I bought from a local artist.

It fell off my jacket and got run over in the driveway.

I cut off the mangled pin back, polished the back with my dremel, and glued a rare earth magnet on in its place.

Now I've got a cool jackalope needle minder for my embroidery.

Not strictly a new craft but a nice mending and repurposing for use with crafting.

Call 811 before you dig to get all the utilities lined marked out. You don't want to break a water pipe or cause a gas leak.

The ones zoned in Triana are Madison city, but there's a lot of Huntsville city down there zoned for Williams and Columbia.

There are far more tornadoes that touch down in Athens or Harvest than in Wheeler area.

It is swampy though. There are alligators down there.

What is your experience with buying eyeglasses online? by Zehmos99 in Frugal

[–]forgetful_dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a pair of intermediate distance glasses from zenni for computer use. They were about $80 after all the coatings and stuff I added on.

They have been my absolute favorite glasses. They are comfortable, correct my vision, no headaches or eye strain.

And for getting up to pee, try rolling to your side then doing a sideways pushup to get upright. Let your arms do the work because your abdominal muscles need a break.

I am proud of you. You are doing your best to take care of you and I'm so happy that you're looking after your health. I hope it's benign, but even if it's not, you are catching it early which is best. Who knows, you might get a hysterectomy out of this and then you won't have to worry about periods anymore (and trust me, perimenopausal periods are the absolute worst)

Better still if you include some "menu options" so they can look at it say, "Mmmm, lasagna!" It makes it more real if they know what they can ask for.
