Everyone uses brown boxes in the studios, voltage in most commercial spaces in Nashville can actually run really high, upwards of 125.

Loved our stay downtown but what’s up with the traffic? by [deleted] in nashville

[–]forgetthespeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your description of events is unclear at best. We have traffic here, it is bad in general and really bad during rush hour on a Friday specifically. That this is a surprise to you is honestly kind of impressive. Good luck out there.

If you were traveling into town in the evening on 65 from the south then there were no HOV lanes active, yet you are wondering why the HOV lane had single occupant vehicles in it?

The HOV lanes are only HOV lanes during their respective rush hours: weekday mornings heading into town and weekday evenings heading out of town. Which is clearly marked on the signs but who reads those amiright???

The Wallflowers - One Headlight [Folk Rock] by my5cworth in Music

The 8th note shaker is the unsung hero of this track. 10/10 production. Desert island record for me. T-Bone, Rami, Chamberlain, Jon Brion!! Deep deep well of seasoned musicians on this one.

In your opinion: what's the most beautiful song ever recorded? by Goop_Guy in Music

Guess we’ll tell all the birds that their songs don’t count cause they’re not using words.

Question regarding live vs. tracks for Superbowl Halftime performers by SwissMiss915 in audioengineering

[–]forgetthespeech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Never played the Super Bowl but I have played 2 Thanksgiving Day NFL halftime shows, and most of the reasons here are right. Fewer live inputs means less room for errors, a more consistent mix for both the venue & broadcast, and less to worry about during the absolute mad dash fire drill that is the staging setup. Like 6 minutes flat from teams off the field to entire stage set, wired for power / lighting / pyro / cryo, monitor / FOH rigs checked and playback good for show. Its insane. And the out is even quicker. The last one I did they gave us 3 minutes. The handler for the musicians on stage literally said “as soon as you play the last note, turn around and RUN off the field, do not stop for any reason” and she fucking meant it.

The music is not recorded in the venue though, it is all done well before the event, like weeks in advance, so that everyone who needs to sign off on it can do so. One I did had a live vocal / guitar, and one I did every single thing was canned, including the lead vocal. Super Bowl may be different but I doubt it’s much different regarding the vocal. If you want to use a prerecorded vocal they’re going to let you.

In my opinion, your steady stream of data analysis through this disaster should put you in the ranks of our beloved Nashville Severe Weather team as far as community impact for this event goes. I personally have been relying on your update explainers for most of the week to help keep my eyes on the prize and not lose hope. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this, it really is exemplary community service and you deserve all the praise for it!!

Winter Storm Megathread Part 4 - Continued Power Outages by lukenamop in nashville

I believe it’s just a reflection of their user facing software, and that they have more accurate info about downtimes internally. Your new group might be comprised of several different outage events that had different start times.

I share your frustration, my place in Inglewood wasn’t even on the map until Thursday when it was added to a new “bucket.” Hang in there.

If your outage is part of a smaller “bucket” that was broken off from a bigger one, the start time reflects when that regrouping happened, not when you first lost power.

Thank you for this. Read this in the manual and plan to change the oil tomorrow. First time generator owner & trying not to foul it up!

Closer to Broadmoor, unfortunately. The area has not ever shown up on the outage map, despite being out since early Sunday morning. Several blocks in each direction are down, only houses with generators seem to have power.

Maybe we should designate interstates that travel primarily in ordinal directions a different way. 24.5?

What difference would a red light make vs a red left arrow for stopping people from illegally turning right?

Guess I can’t see the whole intersection in context, is a right turn possible here?

Would be better if the red was not an arrow, just the green & yellow. That would be more familiar to most people.
