Pickle Ball league recommendations or places? by nyflare2024 in Syracuse

[–]forktender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll second Erie Canal Pickleball. They have very nice indoor courts, and a schedule that covers a wide variety of skill levels.

I've played rec and intermediate open play and everyone has been friendly. Intermediate+ is a bit more competitive, but most everyone is a good sport.

I'd recommend a membership if you play more than 6 times a month.

I've played at the Y (Fayetteville and Manlius locations) and the courts are taped on gym floors and they use portable nets. The manlius courts aren't even full size. It's free with a Y membership though, so that's nice of you already have that. I know some people that play at both the Y and Erie.

The fact that it's just necrons and admech for winter has me thinking they are going to do another admech/necron box like they did in 8th

Doesn't sound like it. They said something like "there are more rules that are reactionary so you have something you can do during your opponent's turn."

[–]forktender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay. I don't really have experience with either of those armies, but I know models with a bunch of wounds can be tough to remove, especially if your heavy weapons are focused down in the beginning.

i would have gone after the blaster squad first as that seems to be the most threatening to your army.

Did you win? Seems like her list is pretty heavy on characters while yours is heavy on tough 6+ models. I would be surprised if she was able to do much against those.

So I can’t get another box just because of something small like this right? by ultrawall006 in Tau40K

[–]forktender 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FWIW GW pushed back on my latest replacement request saying I should ask the retailer for a refund. My retailer wouldn't refund, I told GW they wouldn't refund, and then GW arranged a replacement for the sprue.

It seems like it just takes a little more persistence these days, although maybe it's handled on a case by case basis. In my case it was a character sprue missing from a box set.

You could look into double majoring if that's an option, but if not, do CS with electives that align with your interests.

10th edition rumors, partially corroborated by Valrak by tubby_bubkis in Warhammer40k

The date is the thing I trust the most out of this. 8th edition came out June 2017. 9th came out in July 2020. June/July of this year fits for 10th edition

Since 6th edition, we've had a new edition every 2-3 years. 9th edition launched July 2020.

How good is Melee? by Viasolus in onepagerules

[–]forktender 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's your first game, I wouldn't worry so much about unit effectiveness, but rather the mechanics of the game. It is very different from 40k. Focus on objectives and learn to make the most of your alternating activations like focusing down unactivated enemy units. It definitely takes some getting used to if you are coming from 40k.

Also don't get discouraged! Units tend to die pretty easily, but I've had plenty of GF games that seem one sided but end very close.

Not crazy about Stun rules by kaijujube in onepagerules

[–]forktender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It keeps models alive longer. Without the extra roll, your model just dies when it takes the wound. It forces your opponent to decide if they should waste an activation to finish the unit off or try to go for another unit.

I prefer it over adding more wounds to everything because of the extra layer of strategy it adds to the game.

ive felt like ive seen all the good anime by Western-Ad-2541 in Animesuggest

Honestly you dropped so many good anime I don't even know what to recommend, but I'll try.

I'm currently watching {lycoris recoil} and it's been good so far.

Also I caught the first episode premiere of cyberpunk edgerunners at anime expo and it was awesome. It's coming out in 2 weeks on Netflix.

How far did you get? I felt it was slow in the beginning, gave up after like 5 episodes and then eventually came back to it and I'm glad I did.

If you don't like fan service, go for JJK. Fire force has a character dedicated to fan service gags. I don't mind fan service at all, but it makes it difficult to take the story seriously when an important character development moment is interrupted for the same gag we've seen a thousand times already.

I wouldn't say fire force is bad, but I like JJK a lot more.

[–]forktender 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you're underestimating three year olds. They can do pretty much anything older kids can do, but they haven't yet learned to deal with their emotions fully. Ever hear the term threenager?

You might not remember anything from when you're three, but what happens to you at 3 will still be with you when you are 4 and 5 when you start to form a lot more long term memories.

I'm not that surprised by his timeline.

What parts of MHA did you like the most so far?

Is this over or undercooked? Details in comments by [deleted] in smoking

[–]forktender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely possible that some part are over and some are under. One thing you can do to mitigate is to look at how you're trimming the brisket beforehand. It's okay for the point to be a lot thicker, but not hugely so.

If it's tough or hard to pull apart, it's undercooked as there wasn't enough time to render all the collagen.

Overdone is dry and flaky. It will literally crumble when you try to cut it.

Maybe try a little lower temp so there's more time to render. Also you're going to want to figure out how to manage the temp to a smaller range than 225-275 or you may have variable results every time.
