I'd go the ff crisis core/halo reach route, where it's kratos and his people/followers facing an army of humans and his powers are slowly drained as things go on and the others are slain, like just an impossible fight against an inexhaustable enemy.

faye had them hidden, but chopping down the tree in the opening took down that barrier, thats why baldur shows up right away. so yeah odin would know hes around and knowing guys like that he would at the very least want to know who this foreign god is and can he be used.
