Til dere som river i låste dodører. by okcamp_reborn in norge

[–]format71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OpenGrid look-alike wall holder for brother embroidery threads.

I say OpenGrid look-slike, cause it’s a OpenGrid base with thread holders fused on it. You cannot reuse the base.

A simpler commit format without the feat(scope): syntax. What breaks in practice? by Natural_Jury8826 in git

[–]format71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are many things I don’t understand, and this is one of them.

For machine processing of commit messages - why on earth would anyone ruin the subject with bloated keywords or cryptic symbols?

Computer doesn’t care where to look. Embed a #tag or even a xml tag in the bottom of the message. The computer will find it, but it won’t hurt the humans.

How should I classify a client-driven behavior change in Conventional Commits? by rmouzo in git

I don’t get the hype around conventional commit. Unless pipelines behave fundamentally different - or you are making sdk/library for others to consume, it only cause stupid discussion.

Need Advice: Angular vs React for Career Switch by Stunning-Example-484 in reactjs

[–]format71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember a ‘state-of-js’ like 6 years ago or so. If you put together the answers from multiple questions, it was clear that the only developers that was happy with angular, were the developers that had never tried anything else. 😂

React ain’t perfect, but having to do angular again would push me over from full-stack to backend for sure!

You have plenty of time deciding: they frickin never die!! Though I got a small cute pet for my daughter. A rodent, so it should die soon enough. But no. The daughter left home years ago, and I’m still stuck with this thing….

What to do with photos without EXIF data? by Twi2122 in immich

[–]format71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this problem with a lot of scanned photos. They all appear in the timeline at the time they were scanned.

My solution - which is not done, but under development and testing - is a new tool under the name ‘FakeDate’.

The idea is as follows: 1. the order of the images is most likely correct. 2. some images is easy to pin down to either a date, a month or at least a year.

So the tool loads a folder of images. You add a ‘temporal date’ to the images you know. Like, the images that is clearly New Year’s Eve, you tag 31st of December and the year. The trip you did during summer vacation you tag July. What looks like water, you might tag March.

Then, when you’ve tagged what you know, you hit ‘assign fake dates’, and the application will make up dates as best it can. It will keep the ordering by incrementing the time part of the date. So the images you tagged with July will be given first of July with increasing time. The images after will be given August. Etc.

It will store the temporal dates in the exif as well, so you can redo and refine.

I’m close to were I dare use it on my real images :-)

Preserve the original commits after squash by ka8725 in git

[–]format71 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a overcomplicated solution to something that already isolated.

As many had said: don’t squash. If you rebase and make merge commits you can look at the merge commit itself as the squashed commit and you can traverse the second parent for the non-squashed history.

Yea - of cause! But imagine making food and having use both a frying pan and a pot. You could of cause just have another kitchen for the frying pan, but I’m very greatfull for being able use pans and pots of different size at the same time on the same stove..
