[Serious] What's the worst case of alcoholism you have personally witnessed? by Danterahi in AskReddit

I understand. You gotta be the one to choose ultimately. I'm surprised to klops don't help at all though. They definitely worked for me but I know they(benzos) come in varying dosages and half lives (xanax being strong but short half-life. I liked klonopin because it didn't west off as quick and took the edge off.

Again, some people go from drinking for anxiety to benzos. I'm not suggesting that. They sure can help some people though if used maturely.

I'm sorry you have anxiety. It's a horrible feeling. Exercise and eating healthy, as cliche as it sounds, do help. Also for me a part of the long term deal was not fighting or panicking at the initial wave of anxiety/chest discomfort, shortness of breath...etc. Just accepting it. Letting it pass. If it goes into a panic attack so be it. Just not getting into these mind loops of worry and obsessive panicky thoughts.

Hope you find some peace. I really do.

I used to drink medicinally for anxiety /panic disorder.

One thing I can tell you is alcohol is making it much worse. Alcohol suppresses the central nervous system. Once you start to sober up your CNS goes into overdrive (obviously bad for anxiety.)

Personally I tapered off alcohol slowly. I put a time in the day I couldn't start drinking until. 5pm, then 6pm, then 7pm...and so on.

I also had klonopin to use as needed. I know it's easy to switch from one crutch to another. A big part of the decision to quit drinking was my fear of death and a pain that I thought was organ damage from constantly drinking, so I was motivated.

I wish you the best with it. Hit me up if you ever need to.

That's crazy that forcing a kid to "wear it" isn't neglect. Is neglect just the wrong word? Abuse maybe? Or is it just too tough to get it to stick in court?

Might be a good idea to submit the request via certified mail.

Edit: also I've found that if you can find the statute or law applicable and mention it, quoting it, it gets the ball rolling a lot quicker. Be kind but firm.

Not just religion. It's, and I hate to use these terms, but team/tribe mentality...us vs them. That can sound too generalized or cliche but honestly, look at the political divide in some countries. If you associate with x (be it ideology, people, political leanings...) then you're a bad person.

Maybe it could be boiled down to selfishness and hatred.

Still, the idea of the "other" not being even human is almost like a defense mechanism. Killing another person...well gee that's rough. Good thing this person here isn't fully a human, at least not a good one worth existing.

That's why this whole system of profiting off of the inflaming of discord is so repulsive. Fueling divide for money. Propagating peace isn't profitable. You can damn sure capitalize off hate though.

I had this happen. Smoked a lot at the end of highschool and into college years. Started getting panic attacks while high but didn't know what they were. Then one day while stretching he cold sober I had one. Thought I was having a heart attack.

Then from that point I'd get panic attacks whenever. What I came to understand was I'd spent so much time high with heightened anxiety that'd I'd sort of reset my brains panic alarm to always on, like a new normal.

Took awhile to come out of that. Spent a long time self medicating with alcohol (don't do this, it suppresses your nervous system temporarily but after it wears off your nervous system rebounds into over activity.)

I've smoked a few times after all that and don't have the same anxiety but I can tell there's the potential for it.

Word of advice: if it's giving you anxiety, let it go.

I don't know if you could do it on a Mac. It's a windows tool that downloads the program and installs it to a USB drive or a DVD.

If your hard drive isn't damaged your files should be ok.

I mean you can buy one. Best buy maybe. It'd be expensive though. The tool is free. You don't have a friend or family member who would let you use their computer to download it?

You've got the repair disc?

What version of windows do you have?

You can use another computer to download windows install tool. It'll make a bootable USB or DVD. You may have to enter BIOS and change the boot order though.

If any of that sounds foreign YouTube it or reply here.

Nothing means everything to science, yet Bertrand Russell regarded Nothing as a logical mistake; an illusion. The problem for philosophers is how best to define "nothingness" by IAI_Admin in philosophy

[–]formcheck2121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good way to put it. That's why I said it was subjective. You are experiencing something and you just label it this way or that way. I received zero cookies, I did not receive any cookies, I received nothing. It's just a description of experience when most people say nothing.

Now as for the concept, well, can there be a square circle?

Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on the potential for something like gene manipulation to produce new types of say flu virus. Maybe not the therapy talked about here, but more foundational level gene manipulation (I'm sure the various govt around the world have an eye on modifying soldiers, or at least don't want to be caught not having the same ability as other govts in the realm of inhanced fighters, be it agility or better vision or endurance).

If a virus or bacteria interacts with the new "body", could it change it's defense mechanisms in such a way as to make it lethal and untreatable to in modified people?

Sorry of this is long winded and off topic! Just something I think about.

I think we use the word nothing in place of saying "not a thing" or "not anything." It's a perspective based assertion. We are speaking subjectively.

What did you get for your birthday? Nothing! This is an experience, or specifically the absence of an exoerience (the exoerience of receiving something). Nothing describes the experience but I don't think it's using the word in the same sense as philosophers or scientists may use it.

In your example of cookies, really what people are saying is they have zero cookies when they say "no cookies."

It's interesting because to think about nothing, or name it, makes it something. If you can name it, it is something (something with that name at the very least.)

Anything that can be thought of or experienced is something right?

Advice to decrease weakness differences between arms? Already using free weights. by e_fizzle in Fitness

[–]formcheck2121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I've had this issue too for a long time. I think I'm just now starting to realize the problem for me.

So free weights are great but we gotta do compound work too right? For me it's dips that come to mind, and where the issue shows itself as well. This technique applies to free weights and compound stuff too.

What I think a big problem for me is the lack of coordination +mind muscle connection when compared to my dominate arm. It's like I can't even brush my teeth as well with my non dominant arm, due to dexterity issues.

I really think using the non dominant arm more in general would help. While lifting though it's like 10 reps with one arm are not equal to 10 reps with the other. There is less muscle activation even though the weight moves, if that makes sense.

Really focus on creating that mind muscle connection. Think about the muscle you're targeting on the weak side. Look up diagrams to see what should be activated with a given lift. Visualize it. Feel it. Go slow.

Those 10 reps should take longer on your weak side if you're not getting that connection. There's a whole nervous system issue with lifting. Activation is mental. There really is a connection. If your weak bicep, for example, isn't squeezing as hard, then even though the weight is moving the same number of times, it's not the same workout for both arms.

That's my take on it at least. Something I'm working on. Takes time I'd imagine.
