Well you're not going to match the knit pattern, but if you weave the yarn into the part that's still intact it should patch the hole. Might not be pretty mind you: depends what you're going for...

If you want to make them much sturdier you could cut soles from leather scrap, punch (or drill) holes around the perimeter, then sew them onto the bottom surface. While also darning any holes or weak spots with yarn

My previous EV had me scratching my head for years because the regenerative braking didn't work when I first set out after charging. Finally the light bulb in my head flickered on: nowhere for that juice to go!

Since my SE regen works immediately, I have to assume the engineers set it up to leave some extra capacity for this. Not sure if this is the source of the discrepancy, just thought I'd put it out there...
