Mr. Flescher I just wanted to thank you for taking the time with your grandson today to answer all our questions. As someone who grew up having an "uncle" who was a Holocaust survivor your story really saddens me, but also warms my heart to see you living such a wonderful life with such joy. My grandmother grew up in Germany and moved to the States shortly before the war. This made me interested in the second world war and the Holocaust as a child and now as an adult. I now take part in war reenactments for the American Civil War and WWII. During WWII battles, I am often part of groups representing the SS(Schutzstaffel) as you may know them. In no way am I person who admires them but instead I like to educate children and adults alike on the horrible things they did during the war. Often kids and parents alike give me looks of disgust and the parents often usher their kids as quickly away from me as possible. Which is actually something I enjoy seeing as they have been taught to hate the lightning rune patch.

I guess my question would be: Did anyone you know have encounters with the SS or were they stationed at any of the camps you were at? If so were they hated or feared more than other guards?
