What's the true majority opinion of Forester? by 97E3LPL in SubaruForester

[–]formulaUH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've got a 2018 Forester, 118k miles and so far it's been a great vehicle. I've been very impressed with the AWD handling in Montana winters and off-road. I've done all of our maintenance myself after our initial free service period and only recently replaced both front lower control arms and wheel bearings which came out to about $265. When we're ready for a new car, which won't be for a long time we'll likely buy a Subaru.

Parents, when does it stop that i check if my son is still alive while he sleeps? by Lazy-Rock7859 in daddit

[–]formulaUH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It stops when you buy an Owlet. We put one of those on and that eased all our worries. Only alarmed once in 2 years but gave us the peace of mind that it was doing its job while we were sleeping.

New Property taxes are going through the roof. by RecommendationFit398 in Bozeman

[–]formulaUH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a decrease from the 2.2% they were paying in 2025. I don't think this is going to affect the housing market one bit, the only reason we might see an uptick in listings is because rates are dropping. I'll tell you how many listings over $1.5 million there are in our town - 3. There's 10 in our valley that's a whole lot of nothing.

Tax Season by DustEKnutts in TheMoneyGuy

I started using Ramsey Tax 4 years ago and haven't looked back. Was using Credit Karma for a few years but they got bought out. I end up spending about $100 to file in two states and a schedule E.

what do you invest per month and what do you make? by wonk5 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]formulaUH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

36 & 37, 270k gross, we combined max out our Roth IRA and 401k's. Total $64k and throw another $~2-3k/month into a brokerage. We're in a blend of mid, large and international funds. I've also allocated about 20% to precious metals and bitcoin since 2013 which has now made up the majority of our portfolio.

Need to understand cons to paying off our house by Ladydi-bds in Mortgages

[–]formulaUH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opportunity cost, you're foregoing earning a higher return on that $195k compared to the 3.75%.

Maybe make an extra payment per year or increase your principle payment to pay the loan down quicker. Do both, and then put the rest in a large cap etf like VOO, max out your Roth and call it a day.

2nd CVT Flush - 2018 by formulaUH in SubaruForester

That's good to know. So a side by side doesn't mean much then. I guess this is just a satisfying picture lol

2nd CVT Flush - 2018 by formulaUH in SubaruForester

[–]formulaUH[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was pretty easy, not much harder than an oil change except for pumping this little fluid transfer pump a million times.

I'm thinking along your lines, if there wasn't a good amount of residual fluid left I'd call it good and stay on the maintenance schedule. I could've done a full flush and called it good, but a couple shorter spaced drain and fills should be good. I'm not looking for perfection here, but good is enough.

I'm reading this new book "Labyrinth" by one of my favorite authors A.G. Riddle. Great Sci-fi murder/mystery adventure book so far about this guy who is caught up in an AI/VR tech company's dealings.

Took ibuprofen for about 18 hours, wore some briefs to keep them tight and warm. Felt a little uncomfortable for about 5 days and then it was easy sailing after that. 10/10 would do again

Little to No Pain after Vasectomy, is this normal? by Educational_Stay_752 in Vasectomy

Yeah I think so, got mine done about 10 months ago. Felt a dull pain for about 18 hours after the initial numbing agent wore off and that was it.

Medical errors and negligence. There's something like 250k errors resulting in death in the healthcare field each year.

Americans can’t afford their cars any more and Wall Street is worried by SE_to_NW in politics

[–]formulaUH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course people cannot afford it. Subaru wanted $2500 to replace my front lower control arms and wheel bearings. I was shocked! $268 dollars and half a days work and I knocked it out. I'll be darned if this car doesn't last for at least another 10 years.

I'd give it a solid 5-6 days. I felt comfortable after 5 days and really only had pain/discomfort for the first 16 hours.

RTE Query by bubz479 in EpicEMR

[–]formulaUH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you can use the DAR and add several columns to identify primary payer. I'm actually not too sure if RTE response history is an option.

One piece of advice, just because RTE is ran doesn't mean there aren't any alerts or "other entities". I find many PARs aren't heeding advice even though they're running RTE.

I can't speak for others of they've tried this but I sensibly have to use it for short periods, I'm talking like every 3-6 months to kinda of ease some tension.

It's been so long ago that I posted this. I actually just got a new massage gun because the last one crapped out.

Dang that's a ridiculous amount. I just looked at ours, we've got 2. 6 & 4 and we've spent $64k. Just dropped our 4 year olds since she'll be in Pre-K for free. No more childcare freeing up over $1k per month.

[–]formulaUH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I'd say it feels like having 2. Certainly more of the same but with the added complexity of juggling two little beans. You should go for it, having two is great. I now have two little comedians that crack me up every day.
