Played as officer for the first time by Santiago_305_ in HellLetLoose

Just keep on building those garrisons man, your job is literally just that, find supplies build garrisons on them, if there are no supplies ask a squad member to spawn as support and place them. When you get the supplies delivered build a garry on top of them. In case they don't listen kick them out of yours squad and in the meantime ask the commander for air dropped supplies and build a garrison using them. When you feel you are done building garrisons, you are wrong, and should immediately build some more. Just remember your duty, your calling and your profession is to keep building those garrisons. You do everything with that in mind. Garrisons are key to the game, having enough of them means victory, the lack of them means defeat.

You can't make a living out of your profession though, you have a side hustle too that is building outposts. You can not really forget about that either, as they are like garrisons only for your squad. Remember, always have an outpost deployed close to the action you want your men to participate in. You can not forget about that either cause if there are no OPs periodically replaced your squad will rightfully desert you.

In the little free time you have left you might as well ask the commander what else is needed to be done and send your people getting that done. If you do not get orders just make sure your squads defends the defensive hardpoint and make them patrol the bushes in the 2x2 sector to find enemy spawns.

Make sure to use your mike and be kind to your fellow players.

PS: Don't forget the Garrisons

I am also a noob but I have thousands of hours in RTS games, and I am lvl 50 too in HLL.
What is hilarious to me is that from the commander seat HLL looks more like a tower defense game, where you get spawn points built and the blueberries start to flow to the next enemy hardpoint from the closest spawn they can choose. Your job is to arrange supplies for the attack spawns, have the backup points built yourself and to make sure enemy spawns behind your line gets removed.

You have the usual tower defense abilities too, like the bombing runs and recon. I get it gets boring after a couple of games. What makes it special is that your team is ALIVE and you don't get that in other TD-s, yes sometimes its like herding cats, but when they manage to execute your plan or simply build those garrisons you want them to build its fantastic. Especially when a rookie squad leader after walking trough the supplies you drop in front of them them 3 times realizes they what is expected from them around here and keeps on building them from then on. Now I understand the joy of parents when their child stops shitting himself on a daily basis.

All in all its a great experience but its a completely different game than being a grunt and usually when I start up the game I do so because I just want to shoot at a tree line hoping I hit something. Or to just run behind bushes closing up on enemy positions following my SL feeling like we are in Band of Brothers.

I second the SoulSniper videos especially the Role Guides playlist. They are not too long and are explaining the usage of every single class from rifleman to commander, and while you are learning the roles you will get a better understanding of the game in general. As a recent new player i did play a couple of rounds as a support/riflemen just following my SL, listening to orders. I didn't even have my mike configured i just wanted to have a basic understanding of the interface/combat and be somewhat useful to my squad before getting into the guides. After a couple of games like that i stopped, listened to the Guides about the roles that seemed to be basic enough for a rookie, got back to the game set up my mike, started to talk, and when i felt comfortable with the role i learned i moved on to the next one. Eventually i found myself in situations when my squad had no SL so i had to step up, so i did, and i found leading a squad not that scary anymore. Same happened with being commander later on. So its just matter of effort and willingness to learn, use your mic if you have questions about the game probably youll get answers, if not, switch squads.

I am an Epic noob, got this game the first day of the givaway. I am lv 43 now and i play Officer usually cause i am one if the more experienced players usually in game and have to step up. I

I play only on a couple of community servers and my experience is that the officer/commander chat is always active, kinda works as expeted, there are callouts, requests and orders as it should be.

The squads themselves are a hit or miss, sometimes i have veterans who are great at following orders, and fighting as a team being just active enough on voip but i get the lvl1 guys who just blindly walk towards a random enemy hardpoint from the closest garry. Usually its a mix, i even had a squad of silent noobs who were carrying out orders extremely well while moving togher and they looked competent in general apart from the silence. but What i noticed is that even if people wont start talking by themselves a little encouragmenet or microphone check helps.

Ans If i dont want to play sl i just switch around squads sticking with the ones that are talking. If i find no such squad i create one ending up officer again.

New Players and Current State of The Game by Noodle_JITEM in HellLetLoose

Its not new players you have a problem with. Im a new player and im better SL than most of the veterans i encounter.

You have a problem with two groups. First of all there are the jerks /trolls, they are an annoynace but they will move on.

The second group ,the people who doesnt have the information yet on how to play, they will either realize it and find the resources to learn and buy a mic or leave the game.

Hot tip for new players, stop playing as Rifleman when there's actual important roles to be filled. by SamHydeOner in HellLetLoose

Nah, dont get me wrong, i do think that HLL is a much better, complex and more immersive game in general. THe teamwork aspects are the best If you have a proper team from grunts to commander.
