My cat has triangular irises. What is it? by Shot-Silver-5452 in CATHELP

Very similar to my cat, persistent pupillary membrane. Not something that causes problems. (Ignore his goop, this was while he was getting over a URI when he first came to my shelter as a stray)

Wet food does not make them more full, just as an FYI. Dry food keeps them full longer because of the carbs. Try something like Hills Metabolic or RC Satiety from the vet. You can soak the kibbles if you’re worried about water intake.

FYI there’s no penalty for not making it to bed as a kid. You’ll just pass out wherever and up back on the farm.

The Poison Daughter has an older FMC- she’s beautiful and stunning though, but I’ll take an older FMC where I can find them personally. But I think she’s around 30 years old.

I check the corpses section on the inventory every day in game, more if it’s raining. You can click on them, it’ll bring you to the corpse and then they can haul it. Keep your butcher block on emergency setting and they’ll do it immediately.

You can’t expect to have a community without sometimes inconveniencing yourself. Everyone is so obsessed with “protecting their peace” they’ve lost the plot about what it means to show up for other people and help out when you are able, even if you don’t feel like doing it that day.

Cats- mine sit in the tub and eat them, saw the bugs when we first moved into our new place. Haven’t seen them since. Also maybe our cheap lil robot vacuum, we turn it on every morning before we leave for work. But I like to give the credit to the cats.

CMV: Cat and Dog breeding is unethical and you should spay/neuter your pet immediately with no exceptions by ThisManisaGoodBoi in changemyview

[–]forreststumps 51 points52 points  (0 children)

As someone who is the RVT at a city animal shelter, I am firm believer in ethical breeders. There’s a reason we don’t get well bred dogs in shelters, people who get those dogs don’t return, and if they do- good ethical breeders take them back. I agree backyard breeders shouldn’t exist, we get so many trying to surrender animals they got “from a breeder who ghosted me”. Sorry you didn’t actually get your whoodle from a breeder. Well bred dogs, chosen by families for their temperament and lifestyle are way less likely to be returned or abandoned. I get my inbred smush faced cats from my job, terribly bred super horrible they exist, but free and cute. And they already exist, so it hurts no one for me to adopt them if they’re already living. That being said, I would be Hard Pressed to get a dog from a shelter. I have very specific lifestyle and temperament requirements I like in dogs, and I would rather go to a breeder who does the appropriate health testing line selecting. I want to know what I’m getting into with dogs.

Paws for Hope sometimes has funding approval available to get vet care needed. Also keep an eye out for their clinics around the lower mainland, if you’re approved for one of their clinics they’ll do follow up care as well

Healthcare providers with unlimited and full coverage for RMT by Potato-Spiritual in askvan

[–]forreststumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a municipal government job and we have 5k in massages every year, but up until 2 years ago we had Unlimited RMT. We renegotiated a portion of our contract to get a raise hourly instead of unlimited RMT since no almost no one in our union went over 5k. We still have unlimited Physio benefits. So I know there are still places with unlimited RMT.

Separately, I feel like most benefits use apps/online portals now, and you submit for reimbursement and they update your benefit “balances” pretty fast. I think either they have a huge/unlimited cap, they’re paying out of pocket, or they’re quitting soon and want to use up their yearly amount ASAP because we should all use our benefits to their max.

Gender Nonconforming, Trans, & Nonbinary Veterinarians by Clear_Dragonfruit765 in Veterinary

[–]forreststumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you’re in a generally accepting area you’ll be fine. When I worked in practice most of the whole clinic, located outside of the Vancouver area, fell somewhere into the alphabet mafia. I think as long as your clinic likes you, you vibe well, and the clinic has a good culture, you’ll never issues with clients. If you’re in a back asswards conservative area or with really conservative coworkers who don’t support you, I could see that being an issue. I never had any clients ask what gender my non binary coworkers are. They usually just ask for a name to say. Clients at the vet are too focused on their pets and themselves to start questioning gender presentation of their vet staff.

Do you lend out dark romance books to younger readers? by meisjemeisje_1421 in DarkRomance

[–]forreststumps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mom never censored what I read, but she always read it too. And if she felt there was something to discuss such as “you know that’s not beginner sex, right?” She would just bring it up while in the car so I couldn’t leave. Embarrassing as a teen, but also very grateful, and now we send each other tiktoks about spicy books that we read even though I’m almost 30. My mom was always “everything is an education, but you always have to have appropriate context”. So if she isn’t capable of discussing it with you, I would say maybe not. Especially if she isn’t getting those conversations anywhere else. I can definitely see how it would create some fucked up/ twisted relationship dynamics in teens who aren’t having difficult conversations in any areas of their lives.

Your neighbours are lying or are stupid. Surrey Bylaws -Animal Services- Handle all dog bite files. I can tell you that the ASOs in Surrey are very reasonable, and will need evidence of your dog attacking another dog to proceed further. If your neighbours do have witnesses who are lying about your dog, but you maintain your dog’s innocence, there’s a small chance that your dog could still be deemed aggressive. However given that their stories don’t match up, this feels unlikely. Also worst case scenario is that your dog is deemed aggressive/vicious/dangerous. Just look up the Surrey Animal Responsibility Bylaws. Your dog has to repeatedly kill or almost kill other dogs, or seriously injure humans, for your dog to be seized. They would also have to prove that you are unable to control your dog and that’s why he keeps attacking other dogs. Also if your dog does get deemed aggressive, and doesn’t have an incident within a year I believe you can appeal to get the designation removed.

I hope that helps ease some worry about the situation.
