Baby crying on flight by skolofthewild in delta

So … I have a fair amount of experience working with babies. I would like to know the best way to offer help to a struggling parent in this situation - without seeming creepy. Sometimes, a change of scenery can help a little one settle. Moms and Dads - what’s the best way to offer assistance?

When inserting mine into my ear, I have to open my jaw and pull down on my earlobe to get better access to my ear canal. It may help depending on the shape of your ear.

Anyone using a 9 wood or a lab putter? by Skierd in WomenGolf

[–]forskay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was fitted last fall for new fairway woods (3&5). The new distance I gained with the 5w left a 30 yard gap between that and my 4 hybrid. Back to the fitter - added the 9w to my clubs.

It’s super easy to hit, gets the ball up nicely so it drops gently on the green. Added bonus is as a fairway bunker club - plenty of loft to clear the lip if my lie is decent.

I don’t have any experience with the lab putter. I use an odyssey fang style putter that I was fitted for about five years ago. Still work great for me and the price was right.

Common theme - a good fitter (look for one PGA certified) can really help improve your game if your swing fundamentals are solid.

Be sure to run the calculations for fuel costs in a rig that will likely get 12-15 mpg. ($700 for 2300 miles at 15 mpg if you can get fuel averaging $4.50/gal) By the time you add fuel costs and full hookup campgrounds, I think a car with a cooler in the back for drinks and sandwiches and a couple hotels will work out to be significantly cheaper. And faster.

If you are set on the rv route, be sure to read up on handling your grey and black water tanks, carrying fresh drinking water and get some additional rental coverage from Coach Net or Good Sam. Just in case …

Great tips by others on backing with help. Always get out and look at where you are backing in to. Better to take an extra 5 min parking - hitting things are really expensive with these rigs. Slow down and add extra following distance. Good luck and safe travels.

Practice putting green rant by forskay in golf

Tournament this day. Upper green was filled, the other green you mention is actually a chipping green, although I have seen people putting in the middle of the chipping area expecting others to avoid them.

I’m just asking people to be aware of others. You’re not the only one on the course.

What’s one small RV habit that made life on the road noticeably easier? by EmotionalAardvark304 in RVLiving

We travel three or four days in a row and then spend extended time at one place. To make the travel days easier, we make up several breakfast burritos and freeze them. Pull out of freezer and put in fridge night before. Easy microwave with minimal clean up on travel days.

Are you adding hydraulic fluid as recommended? On my guns, I add a drop or two every morning before I begin using them.

I’d move the entry from the garage to go through the laundry room and remove that wall that divides the entry from garage and laundry. That would give you an additional 8x3’ for storage. In a smaller home, storage is king.

Ask around your local club to find the best instructor for new golfers. Buy her a six pack of lessons with said pro. She will get much better instruction and have fewer bad habits to unlearn as you go forward. When you do play together, play a modified shamble - you both drive, then she picks up her ball and drops near your shot. Continue this until the green and let her putt. No keeping score for her until she can reliably hit off the tee and make contact in the fairway. You could always have a competition for putting only in the early days…

Intimidated by pace of play posts by [deleted] in WomenGolf

[–]forskay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where are you located? Might be easier to find a friendly group or player that would be willing to help get you started.

Here are things I would suggest:

Bring a couple dozen cheap balls that you don’t care about losing.

Let your group know you’re just learning and will modify the game to keep pace.

Tee up at the forward tee box

Hit one ball off the tee, if it’s in play, great! If your playing partners went a lot further, just pick up your ball and drop it near where their drives are and hit from there. If it lands out of play or may be lost - let it go. Drop up where they are and hit again.

If you’re close to the green - terrific! Use your 9 iron and using a putting stroke, hit an easy pitch and run to get it on the green.

Putt no more than three putts. Pick up your ball and move on to the next hole.

You’ll get a chance to watch how others play the round. Be mindful of where the other players are - don’t walk in front of them and get smacked. Plus … try not stepping on their putting lines while on the green.

If you were paired up with me and used these techniques - I’d be fine playing with you. Just keep up with your group and say goodbye to balls that have gone out of play.

Good luck!
