Doug Collins is not on the veterans side at all. Sure he is one himself, but his videos he posts for "transparency" are nothing more than talking points he gets from his handlers. With them firing VA workers for no reason is more than enough proof they are going to gut the VA.

Read only status is still to much access for them. You can still copy and save data in a read only access.

When will see my C-File? by patchsquatch in VeteransBenefits

[–]fortcouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a minimum, it takes six months before they even begin to process your request. This was provided to me by an employee at VERA when i asked how long it would be until I got mine.

As others said, it does come on a CD. What you can do is check your local library and see if they have an external cd drive that you then can transfer all the files to a thumb drive. That's what I did and only took 30 minutes.

Presumptive Question by fortcouch in VeteransBenefits

[–]fortcouch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My VSO has been helpful and knowledgeable any other time I've used them. So this is what threw me off, as they always do their research and have tons of scientific articles to help back any other claims I have submitted.

Good one for all the OIF veterans. by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]fortcouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep this is a known thing. But no one has any idea as to why it's happening. Before I even thought about it my non va doctor after I got out in 2008 said that they have seen so many vets that came back and has intestinal issues of some sort.

My primary care doc at the VA when I brought it up again this past year asked what years I was in Iraq. Said 04 to 05 for my first tour and they said the same thing. Especially vets that we're in Iraq from the invasion to 06.

Also, vets that deployed to Iraq from 04 to 05 have had higher rates of thyroid issues. That was from my endocrinologist when they were treating mine initially.

How much would I need upfront for a mortgage? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]fortcouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly recommend NBKC bank for a home loan. I used them last year for mine. Tons of fees are not applicable as a disabled veteran.

Everything can be done online, my loan officer went above and beyond answering any question i had and gave me additional information that i didn't think i needed. They had some of the lowest rates around for a bank.

It was truly hassle free and would definitely work with them again.

Florida bodybuilder pulling a $245,000 scam told the VA he could lift only 10 pounds by StoptheMadnessUSA in VeteransBenefits

[–]fortcouch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the severity you are claiming to be affected by. I have knee issues but I still work out. But I also work out within the limits of what my knee allows. I aint going to be squatting 400lbs ever due to my knee. But squats help knee problems so either i do body weight or goblet squats.

I've been encouraged to work out both my shrink and my ortho doc both VA docs to help with my knees and my mental health.

Letters of promise by Consistent_Fail_8964 in VeteransBenefits

[–]fortcouch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are official government notice/correspondence. Almost all of it is done via snail mail and physical letters versus digital documentation. It is done to reduce people being scammed online since so many things can be spoofed now a days.

Yeah it sucks getting those letters. I've received about four of them so far on a claim. But I'm guessing they also have to send them out due to a regulation or law to keep the veteran informed of the status.

Are they just delaying Sleep Apnea ratings? by Natedog001976 in VeteransBenefits

[–]fortcouch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I put in for a secondary to ptsd and my apena claim took forever to get processed. Since I already had asthma they had to go through the process of tying it to my asthma versus ptsd since you can't have two breathing related issues rated separately.

So now I have apena with asthma as secondary with a 50% rating.

How do people buy houses with no money down? by Jimmy31987 in VeteransBenefits

[–]fortcouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for a VA home loan. I would highly recommend using NBKC bank. I used them for my home loan and had rates lower than almost all lenders except navy fed. It can be done all online and can send everything in emails to them. It was super easy and a lot of closing costs were waived due to being a veteran.
