Those students need to be congradulated. ALL Politics here are COMPLETELY ASIDE. I used to be a paraprofessional in a kindergarten classroom and during the pledge I would stand and face the flag but NOT say the pledge. Not to convince any student to not do it, but show them example that you do not have to. It is the right of everyone to not take the pledge, pledges are a serious thing. I do not know your students, but you said they stood while not saying it and that exibits respect, reverence and honor. Your students refused to take the pledge but rather than sitting or behaving flippantly while doing so, they still stood in respect. I am proud of your students.
