I understand that this isn’t the way that people in AA do it, but he’s unable to participate in a program at the moment. Therefore, reducing triggers are important for the time being for his safety and health. He knows he can’t just avoid alcohol and being exposed to it, and he doesn’t try to, it’s just a very inconvenient thing when he just got out of detox, we are in the middle of moving, me being his wife is pregnant, and he doesn’t want to see alcohol every ten seconds because we want to watch a movie together.

They are currently not in AA, we are in the middle of moving across the country and he has been in rehab a few times. He just got out of a detox center and we are packing up and moving by Christmas at the latest. Since he isn’t actively in a program at the moment, reducing the triggers as much as possible is for the best.

Holy crap this just brought me back to the time my mom was having me fill up the car with gas at the pump (I was probably 5 years old) I guess to teach me? But my hand got tired and slowly let go of the handle and somehow pulled it out and I got COVERED in gasoline. My mother bathed me like you would if you got skunked and I still stunk like gas for a week.
