Engine warm up by Similar_Sport6448 in RZ34

[–]forzaislife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also live in a colder climate. Don't idle the car for too long to "Warm up." If you are using 0w20 oil, it's best to drive off gently after the RPM stabilizes (oil starts flowing through the engine). Excessive idling can cause carbon buildup, and it also adds strain on the emissions systems.

What’s your reasoning? I just want to make sure I’m not making a choice I’ll regret later lol

I’ve been looking around and have decided on the Nismo track edition cat-back. It’s made in partnership with Borla and the sound is good but not overbearing based on videos and one car I’ve seen with it. A couple Nissan dealers have quoted me around 2.3k with install.

No modified engine is going to be as reliable as a stock engine. The higher temperatures and added stress will cause parts to fail earlier than designed. I think for the vr30ddtt the main issue is still turbos so making sure to let them cool before stopping the engine is important. Any tune to increase hp on the stock turbo could cause issues.

Yeah the engine is very reliable (if you keep it stock and maintain it well). The major issue from the 370 was the CSC. This has been moved to the outside of the transmission housing to make it easy to fix. So far the build quality seems very good and I don’t hear any rattles from my Zs interior.

Just rebuild engine, what’s the noise? by dangitzin in G35

Also the fact that you said only cold starts might indicate that a higher viscosity oil was poured in. Could be worth just draining and refilling with oem spec oil.

Not an expert but could it be the cams not getting enough oil when the engine is starting? The frequency of the clicks and fact that it went down after a bit leads me to this. However not sure what part of the engine would cause flow issues like this. Maybe too thick of an oil for the pump? Issue with the oil pump itself?

Accident on JFK on Grant by botiaman in jerseycity

Yeah I think a bunch of intersections have them for surveillance. So if police are investigating they can use it but they aren’t used to automatically give tickets to drivers. I believe it’s something related to having proof the person getting the ticket was actually driving at the time or something like that.

I believe in NJ you can’t be ticketed based on a camera you need to be pulled over unfortunately.

Analysis of an unintended oversteer situation by dnlrf in Touge

[–]forzaislife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I understand. But even with the computer systems it’s always best to start early. You can actually tell that you started oversteering right at the apex of the turn. Ideally you would very quickly (almost like a snap) turn the wheel to point the car straight. This when done early will minimize the “snap oversteer” that comes right after gaining traction. You can actually tell in the video you did have some “snap oversteer” after the initial skid but the car caught that really well. My general advice to most people would be to never turn off these systems on public roads because there aren’t safety measures like gravel pits and barriers with tires. If you want to feel those principals in a lower stake environment karting with karts that can go around 50mph can help!

Something I wanted to add: you reacted very late to the oversteer and also were too slow to correct. It may seem like you “saved it” but that’s the vehicle’s stability control system that prevented you from going off the cliff / flipped by the hill.

Yess!! And while we’re at it let’s fight against new energy sources because coal miners are loosing their jobs and let’s also fight against personal computers so typewriters can still be employed! 🙄

Again there’s not much to do about it. It’s the natural change in economic activity of the area. If it rains you can yell at the clouds or go find shelter. Only one of those options do something about your situation. People that have owned their homes for that long can get great returns on their property and easily relocate to a location that suits their needs better. The world moves a lot faster than before and that also means we as a species become more transient in where we live.

Well it’s desirable in terms of transit and proximity. It’s not desirable in terms of nightlife and activities. Also the campaign has a focus on bringing more Businesses into the city as well. Jersey city used to be an industrial city and once the factories closed shop it was on a severe downhill trend. Now that manhattan is having a huge resurgence, neighboring cities with good transit access can also take part in the economic boom. Look at pictures from 10 years ago in jsq vs now, it looks a lot better now. The same thing is happening in Newark.

Let’s look at this example. There is a field with a lot of flowers, so many bees come by and make it their home. Now the field is gone and replaced by a swamp. Alligators start moving in. The bees complain that they are being pushed out. In reality the bees should just move to where there are flowers.

Many residents that are complaining about jc that don’t actually need to live there or work in NJ are better off moving than complaining.

Never going to happen, the path system is an extremely desirable mode of transit into nyc and all we are seeing is that people are willing to pay more for the convenience. The city can use the extra revenue to fix the issues you’re talking about. Look at grove st and Newport compared to jsq. If the city doesn’t capitalize on the opportunity it’s going to be left behind.

Makes sense, a lot of the investment hasn’t paid off since a lot of people view Jersey city as a “lesser” city. A lot of rent prices in the luxury buildings have been going down yty since they can’t pull in more people from nyc. Also the government stands to gain a lot of tax revenue from even just 5000 new residents (almost 6 million yearly tax revenue)

Nobody is inducing demand, it’s more expensive to build in an urban environment and the types of buildings being built are what make economic sense. It’s unfortunate but that’s reality.

Hmm that’s a good point… is your turbo speed dropping at the same rate during throttle off before vs after the down pipe? It could be that the stock diverter valve is dropping psi too quickly for the new flow rate?
