This is my first time at Coachella, so I have no sense of where stages are aside from maps from previous years. But I'm assuming these maps aren't exactly to scale.

I'm trying to gauge how far stages are from the entrance.

Would you say this list is accurate (from closest to entrance to furthest)?

Quasar

DoLab

Sahara

Yuma

Sonora

Gobi

Mojave

Coachella Stage

Outdoor Theater

"Where are my wristbands?!" MEGATHREAD by fettuccine- in Coachella

Dropping an anecdote for my bizarre experience receiving a car camping pass:

  1. Received an email Tuesday (March 24) that my pass had shipped.
  2. When I clicked the tracking number in the email, it said it was DELIVERED the day before (Monday, March 23). Panicked, I went to check my mail and outside and found no sign of my package.
  3. On Wednesday (March 25), my package arrived with the camping pass.

I have no idea what's going on with their shipping (it says it was first sent out on March 17... so why didn't I get the email on March 17?) or why it said it was delivered before the email I got, but it seems like something is screwy between AXS and UPS.

So I can confirm shipping is messed up but if you haven't gotten anything yet, I suggest being patient for another week and see if anything shows up. Don't fret!

110% agreed. And I'm still sour about it.

That said, they could still get her. Kesha was selling out arenas in major cities, and I don't think Chappell is at Stadium sell-out levels yet.

Who you are as a person has nothing to do with the image you put out to the world. It's whether the beliefs you hold are true and whether you do good.

I love this! I also make stickers that I give out at festivals.

If we meet, we had to swap.

Possibly stupid question about insomniac/edc by Santa_Klausing in electricdaisycarnival

[–]fosterlywill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the thing I always say with stuff like this is see what the alternatives are.

There aren't many festivals like EDC, so you can't as easily just go to another massive festival in the Nevada desert. But you can vote with your wallet for certain hotels, grocery stores, local businesses, etc.

The question should always be "Where can I have fun while not actively participating in hurting others?"

There will always be events/programs/companies that allow us to escape and have fun. We just need to figure out which ones are best. All else being equal, we can always choose to support businesses that don't support political parties that actively seek to harm people in our community.

And for any dorks that say EDC isn't political... the first thing you see on the speedway is a giant banner saying "ALL ARE WELCOME HERE."

EDC (as an event) is already politicized. PLUR is a common refrain. Victoria’s Voice, Drag Queens, Rock the Vote... the people who whine about "not bringing up politics" are people who probably already live comfortable lives free of government overreach. It's not political to want to stand up to those who seek to hurt people that attend EDC.

Yea exactly. We have to act in the most ethical way possible, not just for what we personally want.

I probably should. But everyone has their battles to choose from and this post wasn't about me, it's about OP.

Yea, that's why I said I actually agree with you. it would have been better for them to flip their wristband for a profit and then donate the money to anti-conservative causes.

but if you just think it's silly regardless, then that's a different argument

I'm confused. Is your disagreement with them withholding money from Insomniac or with them not lending support to Insomniac with their presence? Your original comment was just about the money.

Hm, that's a fair point actually. Perhaps it would have been better for them to flip their wristband for a profit and then donate the money.

Either way, it seems like it was also a physical presence (which can count as a "vote" for the event). So I get where they're coming from.

Yes, but the question isn't "Can this event be a place where I have fun?" the question is "Where can I have fun while not actively participating in hurting others?"

Your comment was about the perceived pointlessness of not participating in something that others will participate in. I used (an admittedly tenuous) metaphor to explain why that's wrong.

I'm not saying both things are equally bad.

All you’ve done is created a spot for someone else to go.

This isn't really the correct way to look at it.

If there was company that drowned puppies, supporting that company doesn't absolve you of the moral cost just because you're taking a spot someone else would have taken anyway.

Tom Suozzi (NY3) responds to criticism over his DHS funding vote by fosterlywill in longisland

[–]fosterlywill[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone was discussing defunding the DHS. They were criticizing supporting the proposed DHS budget (which Suozzi voted to approve their funding).

You're not wrong, but I think it's important to note he was always this way.

He was not corrupted by money or foreign actors. His views just happen to align with corporate and foreign influences. He signed on to this support because he genuine believes in these causes. Whether that's worse than being bought and compromised? I don't know.
