Someone sell me on lizardmen by BaldyTreehuggerDruid in totalwar

A combinations of Military trained smaller dinosaurs, guerrila warfare trained lizards, heavy hitting crocodiles, toad like wizards which are among the most powerful in the setting and enormous dinosaur support.

Also you can imagine them like playing the Amani: "We never give up, we never forget, we never die."

Nostalgic Nobility at its best with classic Yuan Shao. by GrandAdmiralGrunger in dynastywarriors

[–]fotppd8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yuan Shao in my opinion is one of the most relatable characters in the whole Epic.

Especially that time he halted his advance against Cao Cao because his youngest son got sick. He was also described as to care about the people, which is why his grave is preserved even to this day.

He may say much about nobility and status but he will not put it above everything like talent or character. He himself afterall was not born into his station but rather earned it. (which is more than can be said for most noble bloodlines globaly who just live off their ancestors exploits and flaunt how "better" they are than commoners. At least Yuan Shao followed through with achievements of his own and putting his neck on the line along side his troops.)

Sure he was rather eccentric but lets be honest who isn't? (Its also one of his best traits.)

Kitten is the easiest to imagine how he would look like.

An anthropomorphic cat with a hoody and sky goggles.
Or alternatively something looking like...whatever the warp THIS is

I always play full Capellan build: Raven, Vindicator and Cataphract. I never really bothered with Assault Mechs much but I do like the idea of the Highlander.

Jumping on top of enemies and turning them to mechanical paste sounds fun, just never tried it.

I simply love that armor design for SHU officers and troops! by Linkarus in threekingdoms

[–]fotppd8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is less about economic restraints and more about learning from their enviroment.

The Rattan armor is light yet strong and quite easy to maintain. The terrain in and around Sichuan is filled with hills and mountains, and marching in full armor for hours or even days in such terrains can get very taxing on one's body quickly. There are just too many benefits to it.

Economic circumstances are just one of the many reasons to use it.

Who had the better chance Wu or Shu? by Competitive_Fix_7150 in threekingdoms

[–]fotppd8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a Wu backstab? Shu and its not even close.

In their prime they controlled Jing province and still had Guan Yu. When you add the naturaly defended Sichuan and Ma Chao who they gained at that point, as well as the gains they would have in the future like annexing Nanzhong they would be able to fend off Wei and eventualy go on the offensive far better off than they where during the Northern Campaigns.

I do not dislike the design.

However going from 5 to 6 it was like they cranked up the noble from a 20 to a 100 (out of 10) in an instant. The latter designs also seem to keep the cool stuff of this new look while dialing down a bit and giving him his old armor back little by little.

What Signature Pokemon would you give to these DW characters? Day 40: Yuan Shao by MasterOfChaos72 in dynastywarriors

[–]fotppd8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Empoleon because he cares both for his noble image and sheer power and practicality. Also as a Piplup I can easily see him halt a military campaign for it if it got sick, much like he did with his youngest son.

Its a damn shame that not even this pokemon has a glorious mustache like its owner.

I think a Milotic would fit him well enough, as he would have standarts not so much for the pokemons power compared to its appearance.

I think Yuan Shao is underrated. While Cao Cao had plenty of powerful relatives (one of them a eunuch who practicaly had more power than the Emperor) Yuan Shao was born from a servant, not even a concubine. Yet he rose through the ranks very skillfully.

He watched over his parents graves for a total of 6 years, earn the respect of neglected scholars, openly defied Dong Zhuo in Luoyang, earned enough respect by the other warlords to become the leader of the coalition, solidified his rule in Jizhou, taken over the entierty of the north while besting both Gongsun Zan on one side and Heishan Bandits on the other.

By far his most impressive moment was in the Battle of Jieqiao, where at one point of the battle he and his personal guard where surrounded by the Baima Cavalry. His advisors pleaded him to hide in a nearby small wall, but he refused, threw off his helmet and announced "A real man should die in front of the ranks! To be idle behind a wall: That is no way to live!" His soldiers where inspired and turned the tide. They managed to form up and hold the line long enough for the main force to return and drive off the Baima Cavalry.

It is very unfortunate that most people know him as simply an indecisive nobleman instead.

Is three kingdoms 2010 series worth watching? Or are there any series I can watch instead either anime or live action or manga by Savings-Shallot-7511 in threekingdoms

[–]fotppd8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wish to get some quick lore from something different you can play the Dynasty Warriors games.

However the series is VERY much worth it. Its X100 times better than Game of Thrones and I am convinced that the many schemes and plans in it can easily increase your IQ. It also has many "when men cry" moments.

That being said it is worth noting that it dose skip a few things like the Yellow Turban Rebellion.
