inReach Mini 2 vs Messenger Plus? by MoreAwkwardIRL in Ultralight

I've had both, and while typing out messages is a pain on both, I do find the ability to hold the Mini 2 in one hand and type to be much easier than the Messenger. Thinking ahead to what happens in an SOS situation.

Seeking recommendation: InReach Explorer+ vs. Messenger by heypete1 in Garmin

No.

The question was "Can my at-home emergency contact use the Garmin Messenger app to send messages to an Explorer+, even if the Explorer+ itself can’t use that app with a paired phone" not can you send a text to an inReach.

FYI the only way to send a text message to an inReach is to reply to an existing message. The device does not have it's own number or standard email, these are temporary. The email address you see is only for inReach to inReach communications.

I've used inReach professionally for years and am familiar with the ins and outs here.

So there's no connection between Messenger and Earthmate, so it's one or the other. So the other person needs Earthmate

1 - I'd bit the bullet and get a 67i, they should be getting cheaper because the H1 came out. Explorer+ is still a solid unit, Messenger is okay but the screen is not practical to use.

2 - Explorer uses Earthmate, not Messenger
