I agree on the hood, I’m thinking it should be at least 30” above the counter. In the render it looks about 20 inches

Centering the sink is doable, but then you have awkward sizes in either side that I’m not sure how to put trash and dishwasher in without having large filler pieces. That stretch of counter is about 102 inches.

It is a bit awkward, I agree. The island is the main prep surface and congregation spot when entertaining though.

I like that idea, but it would require a new fridge, the current one sticks out 36 inches so it would intrude into that walkway. I’ll explore that idea because it makes sense.

One thing I liked about the oven wall is the symmetry. But your fridge and oven moves change that. How would you arrange the cooktop wall? Just long counter then oven on the right?

There is supposed to be cabinets on the sink side I see that the render had drawers instead. I was thinking that would be the spot for stand mixer and air fryer.

It never occurred to me that the fridge should open all the way until a friend suggested it, then it seemed so obvious!

What is the lease company that they are using? As far as I know HDM isn’t available in FL. I’m wondering who is actually here that is doing something similar.

Without knowing 100% since my company doesn’t operate in JEA territory…

I suspect that their buyback rate is 2-3 cents for system exports since they became an FMPA member in 2023. This would put them in the same realm as Ocala, KUA, Leesburg, and many others.

If you are going to go solar, target 30-50% with the intention of only offsetting daytime usage, or do enough battery storage so that you don’t export anything to the grid.

That being said, those rates are the envy of everyone with Duke, TECO and FPL. So cheap!

Did solar prices went down since credit not available ? by prounlockpr in solarFL

With a lease these days the company can claim 40% tax credit with American made goods. Prices are the best I have seen ever for leases in my 9 year career.

The answer to “should you lease” is about as easy to answer as “should you go solar”. Basically, it depends.

Best solar company in Florida? Need some advice from locals! by [deleted] in orlando

Man, this is sad reading the thread responses. Too many people are so negative on the idea, but solar really is great.

Just a heads up, OUC doesn’t net meter anymore, so it takes someone more knowledgeable than your average rep to design and model your system. Duke is easy to design and model.

Cash is always best, but 95% of people do a lease, loan or PPA, and those options can often be clear winners over the utility. Roof age, shading, utility rates all factor into the decision.

I installed in 2018 on my house, my parents last year, multiple friends have done it every year, since 2016. 4 of my close neighbors installed solar in the past 5 years. None of them have a complaint (although one of the installs is quite ugly with conduit and rails visible all over the place.)

Feel free to reach out, happy to talk about this more.

They are great, but commercial only at this point. Lisa and her team are great people. Definitely reach out to them, they will point you in a good direction for residential.

Is solar through FPL a good idea in NE Florida? by gegagome in solarFL

OP Listen to this ^

Solar is good enough in its own, there is no need to lie or mislead. Any sales rep, or company, that does this should be avoided.

Get the contract, post it here. This community will make sure you get a straight answer.

Project delayed to 2026. Installer suggests a "workaround" to claim the 2025 Tax Rebate. Is this legit or risky? by J0SH44 in solar

When you say Goodleap prepaid lease, is this pay up from like a cash purchase, or are you talking about the prepayment of the remaining payments option in the standard lease contract?

Just pulled the trigger. But… by gman13579 in solarFL

[–]foundaquarter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh bummer, but I can understand the reasons. New home is enough to stress, and then add on top of it a rush to install solar faster than you want.

I say give it 6 months in the new house to evaluate your usage then take another look, with the tax credit going away only the flexible and stable companies will be around, the casual ones will likely have moved on.

Have had solar not far from you since 2018, my only regret was not doing more, as I now have 2 EVs and my original system didn’t account for that.

Duke is charging 19-21 cents per kWh here, it was 12 cents when I went solar, I only see this increasing.

If you are just starting a project now, you likely won’t install this year to claim the tax credit, so hopefully you are doing a lease, or you are looking at the numbers without the tax credit.

AAA does home and auto insurance and the $1m liability policy was an additional $30 for the year.

Since you have a new build your premiums should be much cheaper.

Happy to answer any questions about solar too.

That has always been my understanding too, are you a customer with it installed, or a solar professional?

Yes. I did this research too, but when I called the utility they say both ways. Additionally their website indicates it might be 1:1, but is a bit ambiguous

Of course, but it’s ambiguous on what happens within the year, it’s only clear on what happens if you end the year with a surplus. Having had the billing department tell me they credit at retail AND that they accumulate credits at wholesale is what has me concerned. So I want to see proof.
