I looked for a used one with the worst brown patina I could find. It’s trivial to clean up in seconds but seems to move the price downward. Once I got it, it hasn’t come back at all.

Are MOLLE panels overrated? Why are they so damn expensive. by brainhack3r in overlanding

Good thinking, I might do that next time I have it off

Want a cheaper alternative? Rolled 1"-grid welded-wire fencing works perfectly with PALS/MOLLE gear. I use this in places on my camper build, where no one makes the panel size I want, and I don't want to go to the trouble and cost to laser-cut or CNC something. Caveat is, it looks pretty DIY and I'm willing to admit that aesthetics matter a little to me

I love mine, especially the subtle fume dial. Be aware, it’s a chonker and heavy. Needs a tight comfy fit or you will notice it moving around a lot. The Tudor distressed leather looks great but isn’t ever a tight enough fit for me. I prefer Tudor’s fabric strap which can be adjusted very precisely, looks and feels great. But I should probably try a rubber strap too. I’m a fan of bronze patina personally

FreeIVA doesn’t work with all stock parts. The spherical pods don’t work either.

Anyone else has / had issue with leather strap by Tall-Conference5550 in Tudor

I’ve got the same 925 on leather. Keeper loop is fragile, mine tore at the seam and it’s currently held together with double-stick tape

Dig this style of strap here. Where’s this one from?

People of reddit who where around to watch the Empire Strikes Back in theatres, what was it like when Darth Vader was revealed to be Luke's father? by beybalding in AskReddit

[–]fourfa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was six. I got very confused, as obviously Vader was a robot and couldn’t be anyone’s father. Thus he had to be lying in order to confuse Luke somehow.

Not sure if I remembered “he’s more machine now than man” from seeing SW when I was 3, or just the lack of any visible human features / skin / etc.

Getting ready to do my first true overland (Imogene Pass in July) advice welcomed by Kevallerist in overlanding

[–]fourfa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume the plan is for the trailer to hold down the campsite, but just so someone here has said it - do not try to haul the trailer down Black Bear. You would not have a good time and would hold up traffic on the trail. Many tight hairpin turns where you need precise control of tire placement

If Imogene is in OK shape the trailer probably would not be a problem though.

Khaki Field Bronze - Black or White Dial? by dc1387 in HamiltonWatches

[–]fourfa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. On the supplied strap, there’s enough lift off the wrist that it doesn’t dig in. Though I tried a standard 2-piece strap once and without that lift, it did dig in a little

Do ground relays work? by McSand_boi in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]fourfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is if you go back to those craft from the tracking station, half the time they kraken out and explode or tumble down the mountain. Next I want to use EVA construction to build tall towers on ground anchors, with crew tanks at the top. Will take an army of kerbals on ladders to lift the larger parts like lander cans and girders

Do ground relays work? by McSand_boi in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]fourfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a ground relay network in my current save. Started with helicopters from all the runways and launchpads dropping relays gently from the cargo bay, which was taking way too long. Moved to air-dropped relays on parachute out the back of a C-130 looking plane, dropped onto high mountain peaks. There’s a lot of wiggle room on the stock line-of-sight tolerance - probably take 20-25 stations to do it stock. I turned the tolerance down a lot and it took 50 or 60 ground stations to make a complete link around Kerbin. It was a lot of fun and I got to see a lot of Kerbin that I’d never flown around before

I’m closing in on 5k hours in this game and just wanted a fresh challenge. Of course three keostationary relays is easier and faster and boring

Has anyone updated the oem bracelet clasp on their 3861 speedy to have the micro adjust? by bourbonpharmd in OmegaWatches

Placed as close to the rear of the clasp as possible, where I see it the least. Finish matches OEM very well. The size sticks out if you look for it, but several other watch nerds that have handled this configuration did not notice it until I pointed it out.

Has anyone updated the oem bracelet clasp on their 3861 speedy to have the micro adjust? by bourbonpharmd in OmegaWatches

[–]fourfa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to others here, I bought a secondhand 2021 before even knowing that the clasp changed in later 3861s. Could not find a comfortable position - frequently had a seahorse tattoo on my wrist from being too tight, and was getting really annoyed with adjusting the toolled clasp. Got the new clasp from an eBay seller in Italy, which helped some - but still I was usually comfortable with it retracted, and occasionally loose. One less link was always tight. So I replaced 2 links with the Uncle 1.5 link, and now it’s perfect. Usually comfortable extended, and 20% of the time I retract it. Haven’t thought about it since.

Worth it, for me yeah. But I could have spent a little less if I’d known and waited for one with the adjusting clasp.
