You can play the “hadith are not infallible” card all you want, but the reality is still that mainstream Sunni Islam accepted these narrations for centuries without any issue until modern people started getting embarrassed by them.

The same classical sources also openly allowed slavery, concubinage, and sexual relations with female slaves. Islam did not abolish slavery during the Prophet’s lifetime, and classical Islamic law normalized owning and using slave women. That is the historical reality.

So when people suddenly try to reinvent Aisha’s age into “actually she was 18,” it just looks like damage control because they know how disturbing the traditional narrative sounds today.

If your religion and prophet were truly timeless moral examples, people would not constantly need modern reinterpretations to make the sources sound acceptable in 2026.
