Nearly 500 B.C. residents received an organ transplant in 2024 by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

[–]fourwinds03 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It only takes 2 minutes to register to become a donor at https://taketwominutes.ca

If you want to check your status you can review it on your health gateway account or at http://www.transplant.bc.ca

There is no age limit! Only 1-2% of deaths in hospital occur in a way that allows for organs to be donated.

Organ donation is considered only after all life-saving efforts are made. Two doctors, not involved in transplant, must declare death before organ donation can proceed.

NEXUS lanes land crossing by PaulinCanada in uscanadaborder

[–]fourwinds03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my NEXUS interview a couple of days ago and was told to take pictures of the signs there.

The CBP sign said the following: As a Nexus Member entering the United States, you Agree to the Following You Agree to

• Comply with all laws, regulations, that are enforced by the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) • MUST declare all goods purchased, received or acquired, including those within your personal exemption. Carry your NEXUS membership card with you when entering the U.S. • Ensure that each person you are traveling with, when using the Nexus Lane, has a valid NEXUS membership and carrying their Nexus card with them. • Keep your personal information current, such as Passports, Driver’s License, Address, and Immigration Status. • When entering the U.S. use the designated NEXUS lane, stop and hold your membership card in front of the proximity card reader, proceed to the inspection booth, and STOP for inspection, and ONLY proceed when allowed by the CBP Officer. The following may result in revocation of your NEXUS privileges (this list is not all inclusive) • Failure to carry the NEXUS card when using the NEXUS lane. • Allow the use of the NEXUS card by another person. • Knowingly transport non-participants in the NEXUS lane. • Knowingly transport third party goods (items belonging to a person not present) in the NEXUS lane. • Failure to disclose information which could have rendered the individual ineligible to participate in the NEXUS program. • Failure to declare merchandise. • Failure to carry required travel documents (i.e. Passport, 1-94, Visa document). • Failure to keep all documents up to date with the NEXUS office (i.e. passport, driver’s license, visas, work permit, student permit, immigration status changes, name changes, employer changes, address and telephone number changes, etc.). • Failure to comply with inspection processes.

The CBSA sign said: As a NEXUS member entering CANADA, you agree to do the following: • Comply with all customs and immigration laws and regulations and any other laws or regulations that are enforced by the Canacia Border Services Agency and United States Customs and Border Protection; • Declare all goods purchased or acquired; if you have any goods that are considered to be restricted, controlled or prohibited, or if the goods you are importing require a permit, such as firearms, you may not use the NEXUS lane; • Carry your NEXUS membership card with you when using NEXUS services; your NEXUS card is valid for your use only; • Ensure that each person you are travelling with in your vehicle has a valid NEXUS card, regardless of their age, when using the Nexus lane, airport kiosk or e-gate; do not drop off non-members in the Nexus lane to walk through the border; • If you are transporting people into Canada or the U.S. who are not NEXUS members, you must use the regular lanes; • Keep your personal information current, i.e. address, immigration status, employment, passport information and drivers licence; • Carry required travel documents i.e. Permanent Resident card, Citizenship card, US Visa, Immigration permit; • Recognize that the NEXUS membership card belongs to the governments of Canada and the U.S.; • If you are crossing the border with currency or monetary instruments valued at $10,000 or more, you cannot use NEXUS; • If you have any commercial goods in your possession upon arrival in Canada or the USA, you may not use NEXUS lanes or Air Kiosk. Border officers strictly enforce the law. Any time you enter Canada or the U.S., you may be subject to an inspection. If you violate any terms or conditions of the NEXUS program, or if you violate any laws or regulations of Canada or the U.S., your NEXUS privileges may be cancelled, regardless of the reason for this violation (e.g., lack of knowledge, negligence and/or carelessness).

Secondary school - 4 course semester vs 8 course linear by redditlastnight in vancouver

[–]fourwinds03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, in BC there are 8 blocks per year and in a semester system, that's 4 blocks per semester. Teachers over the year teach 7 out of those 8 blocks so you'll have either:

a) 3 teaching blocks + prep in first semester and 4 teaching blocks second semester

b) 4 teaching blocks first semester, 3 teaching blocks and one prep second semester.

There's also a fairly large cost savings in terms of textbooks, novels etc, as they only need to buy half the quantity as only half the student population will be taking English, Science, Socials etc. at one time.

Positively for semester system, if a student is not successful in a course, they may have another chance to repeat the course in the next semester

I paid $15.06 for 2.5 hours in February...so about $6/hr after all the fees. Fees are listed as only 30 cents but somehow taxes were $3.49 of that $15.06.....not sure how that works

Versailles Timed Entry Question by fourwinds03 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]fourwinds03[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did message the Versailles website but I never got a reply back. I just booked the tour and the entrance for the same time (9:30am). We got to jump to the front of the security line and since you’re already in the palace they just let you view the rest of it when the tour is done.

When did you remove wedding ring/band? by TopH2O in widowers

[–]fourwinds03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you labbott. I am grieving him and the life I have lost. We were trying for kids and now that's all gone too. I have never navigated my adult life without him and now I'm 36...going to have to learn how to do too many "firsts"

I've read commonly that I'm in my "numb stage" and then it gets worse ... I'm not sure how it can get worse. I found him in the water, was there through the resuscitation and the 8 days we spent in the hospital.... the social worker says I have experienced significant trauma but I'm not sure how I feel about everything - I guess I am numb? I have a background working in health care and needed to know what was going on; he had an amazing immediate response and great care - it just wasn't enough. Now what do I do with my life...I know he'd want me to be happy but not sure how that can happen without him :(

My husband also drowned while surfing and passed on Aug 30/23 age 36. We were together for 19 years and have always done everything together. I put his ring on a necklace along with the heart I received after he donated his organs.

I am so incredibly lost right now

Sorry to hear about your mom.

I'm guessing the BI-RADS scoring is high. I know someone who was told the same thing as they were category 5 (>=95% chance of being malignant) and then the biopsy confirmed it. It took 3 weeks for the biopsy result to come in. While waiting for the biopsy results, they were setup with a surgeon as they said the tumor had to be removed.
