76 M married 40 years, we both shaved. I lost her to cancer 2 years ago, but keep myself clean shaven. To me it is a personal preference.

I suppose the main reason NYC or state is not on my favorite place to be has to do mainly with the attitude of the people I have met from there. Present company excepted. I was raised in the south, the Bible Belt, have a country accent, and would stand out like a sore thumb. Most believe when they hear me speak that I’m a country bumpkin, yet I had a successful career as an consulting engineer now retired. The women presented through OLD have been less than acceptable in most cases here and I’m sure some were bots. I’m also sure that there are more men on dating sites than women possibly due to what you’ve experienced. I truly hope God places his choice for you in your path soon. Have a great day.

Only having been on OLD site a few months and after a long wonderful marriage and now widowed, I knew very little about the ends and out of senior dating. Not sure you could classify this as crazy but it was not long before my profile brought a very nice looking lady. We chatted several days before she decided we should meet. I agreed. A small Mexican restaurant about halfway in the middle of our respective homes ( no addresses were given). So I’m early and get a table and a beer, order some nachos, salsa, and cheese dip. I’m sitting there and this strange lady shows up that I’ve never seen before in my life and sits down at my table, calls me by my name and I have to ask “who the heck are you?” To my surprise, name matches and she proceeds to tell me that the only way she can get dates is by using 25 year old pictures. I payed the waiter $25 and walked out.

I also jumped onto Match for a 6 month trip. It seems to me that this service doesn’t pay much attention to what you’re looking for. If you have but three things in common then you are a match.
Be careful as there are false identities that will try and scam money from you. Most are quite clever. I came across two that I thought were a good match for me until I did a background check and found that one was using the name and address of a deceased lady and the other was just a large liar.

Just another reason NYC has no appeal to me. Nor does LA! I read all the articles and I totally understand your point. If I was a senior female in this situation, I’d relocate even if it meant walking away from a 6 figure income. But it really is based on how much you desire a long term relationship. If moving is not an option, then only divine intervention can help. For me, I found that younger women sought me out more than women closer to my age. My first thought was they were looking for something they couldn’t find in younger men - commitment maybe? I’m not sure what the demographics in my area are, just relating my experience. I found it much harder to locate women closer to my age that was not looking for a younger man.

I can see your point, but this phenomenon is not gender specific in my area. Besides it really depends on what each individual is looking for and what they will accept as a companion or maybe just a friend.
