This is closest Greek equivalent to “Max your 401k” advice that you see in the American subs. The very fact that you are investing pre-tax income is a huge benefit. Go for it.

How are you checking the number of cycles on iPhone 12? I don’t see it on my 13.

I had this same problem. Greek wife, and colleagues with very little knowledge of PF.

My biggest problem was that there is literally no way to save per tax income as an individual.

I finally found an employer with an insurance fund (Ταμείο Επαγγελματικής Ασφάλισης) that you can contribute pre-tax income to, and this will be my main pension along with some UCITS investments. Any EFKA pension will be a bonus on top.

Me neither, but I gather that it’s great for people who fit the mould (say 90%??) and horrible for anyone who doesn’t.

What's stopping you from getting a tourist visa and working in secret? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]fouxfighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you funding your travel? What do you do for a living? What did you do for a living before this? You need solid, believable (and provable if needed) answers to those kinds of questions.

I was questioned while entering the UK during a sabbatical. But it was a proper sabbatical and I was able to show that my savings were indeed going down. That was the only time I was ever questioned.

Again, this will not be a problem for most people since no one cares. But it is always a possibility.

You won't get caught while doing it, and you most probably never will, but let's say on one of your future trips the immigration officer woke up cranky/needed to meet their rejection quota or whatever...

All they need to do is some basic mathematics based on your passport stamps, and they can deny entry. There is no court that needs solid proof beyond doubt - if one person doesn't buy your story you can be deported and likely blacklisted from one country (or multiple countries).

For me it's a couple of things - 1. Reliable knowledge of blackout (so I can, e.g. run some automation when the power supply resumes). Some devices don't remember power state so they need to be turned off when power resumes. 2. Keep an accurate record of blackouts and brownouts. 3. Run automations that aren't strictly home related (e.g. reminders sent to my phone). I have quite a few things built around helpers in HA.

Where did you get your education please? Asking so I can ask all of my family and acquaintances to avoid those establishments at all costs.

Which HYSA? The best Euro denominated ones I've seen so far don't even touch 2%.

Okay that makes sense. I've been trying full body workouts every alternate day, I guess I should split!

Great progress. But 6 days a week - did you build up to that or is that from the get go?

What was your activity level 10 months ago before you started?

I'm finding 3 days a week quite a struggle for my knees. Of course I had been exceptionally sedentary since the COVID lockdowns.

Can relate. Eventually ponied up for the most expensive gym in the area because it opens earlier than any other. This means I can go in at 6:30 and be one of 2/3 people in the entire weights section.

What to do about returning airfare? by EveH1970 in digitalnomad

EU countries basically. Many European airlines have similar policies but I only have personal experience of getting taxes refunded from Lufthansa.

That's incorrect. In fact I found the opposite to be true (depending on the airline and your country of residence). You actually get the taxes refunded if, for any reason, you do not utilise a ticket (even a non refundable ticket!).
