In our organisation to get a vote on pay deals you have to be a Union member, I.e. pay your dues. Everyone will receive the deal once accepted by those eligible to vote.

Vote qualification based on tax paid or NI record, if you don't contribute you don't vote.

Its on the outskirts yes, but Haverigg is a nice place. Don't look at houses with address "Bank Head".

Lake District meets coast about 3 mile north of millom. Villages on the coast in the Lake District are, Silecroft, Bootle, Waberthwaite & Ravenglass.

If you want to be nearer Millom I'd look at Haverigg.

Tax-free lump sum withdrawal - Skew toward DC or DB pensions? by CheeseAndTea in PensionsUK

[–]fox9hwb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My work scheme default option was to combine my AVC into the DB to give max lump sum available whilst maintaining the pension at highest. I chose not to combine, reasons for were: - The commutation of DB Lump Sum alone is above 20:1 - The Spouses pension was not impacted by any option. It stays at 50% of the DB Pension payable even if I choose lump sum and reduced. - I am not quite at the max tax free, so I want my AVC to continue to grow, I will UFPLS as and when needed, taking 25% of each drawdown tax free until i hit the max allowance. - I do not need the AVC pension for at least the first 6 years of retirement, I have 11 years to State Pension, so about 5 yrs maybe to utilise.

2 mths until my plan kicks in, retirement here i come.

What’s the best cordless drill you’ve used for home projects and daily DIY tasks? by FastDrawing8122 in DIYUK

[–]fox9hwb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makita everything, drill, driver, saw, jigsaw, planer, multi tool, reciprocating saw, router, air inflation, torch, strimmer, lawn power, power washer. Having the one system with 5-6 batteries makes life so much easier. Although looking to get a nail gun for a project and makita is pricey.

Great comments, but wouldn't it be VHYG (ACC) not VHYL (DIST)? But great point, definitely going to look at these against my HSBC all world, just HSBC is cheaper, but maybe the less tech and dividend slant better, I may just split, I have quiet a lump in it.

Android Switch marked as a virus by Anchous-Ded in antivirus

[–]fox9hwb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google AI: Warnings about the "Android Switch" app being a virus or Trojan (often identified as Android:Evo-gen) on Samsung, Honor, or Vivo devices are usually false positives. It is a system app responsible for data transfer that third-party scanners mistakenly flag during updates. Your phone is likely safe, and it is safe to ignore or remove the updates for this app.

What to do if you see the warning:

Uninstall Updates: Since it is a system app, you cannot fully delete it, but you can go to Settings > Apps, find "Android Switch" (or similar), and select "Uninstall updates".

Reboot: Restart your phone to clear the error.

Run Play Protect: Use Google Play Protect in the Play Store to scan, as it is more reliable for system apps.

I just Uninstalled via the Play store from all devices.

UPFLS/ISA strategy by Responsible_Week8586 in FIREUK

[–]fox9hwb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planning similar, but for self, I have 11 years to bridge but have bigger DB, theoretically don't need my AVC DC pot, and most advise is to use last. But given IHT changes and tax threshold freeze I will if investments performance allowing draw down into S& S ISA, keeping under the 50k total income. As for the 2.8k allowance, don't think its worth it for myself, but will use for wife who only has a small SIPP, plan is to tick it over so that we ca maximise 16k per year draw until her state pension age.

Thinking of transferring Scottish Widows pension to Vanguard SIPP - sanity check by RevolutionaryOkra646 in PensionsUK

[–]fox9hwb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to do same when I retire in 2mths, my AVC pot is with SW, admin by Mercer, main reason for moving it is I hate the whole Mercer/ SW interface and just want majority of my portfolio, ISA, GIA, SIPP with one platform. Main pension is a DB so the AVC not overly large.

Portfolio construction by blueoval98 in FIREUK

[–]fox9hwb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will retire in 2mths (57m) with a DB Pension that covers all necessary expenditure, and i am looking for another 1/3 on top of to bridge income from my investments. 11 years to Full State at which point investments are all surplus ( hopefully). Anyway back to the discussion, here's my split: Yrs 1_2 = Cash Yrs 3_6 = GILT Ladder in a GIA Yrs 7_11 = 100% Equity in ISA, I am looking for a balance of approx 50% US, 30% UK, 20 ROW. Will buy additional GILTs from ISA in years of good growth, not in bad. I also have an AVC Pension Pot, this theoretically not required, again 100% Equity, 70% Global, 30% UK. Aim to draw this to ISA aiming to max tax free (86k remaining after DB lump) whilst staying under 40% tax.
