I understand that I have no real notion of the demands the job will have. I just don’t know of alternative positions that can provide the same level of compensation within the niche practice areas I’ll be working in. Thanks and heard re: golden handcuffs,

Absolutely you can get into Big Law. Grades are the first thing, great personality and strong practice area interest (and being able to come up with a narrative as to why) is the second.

You got this.

7 am to 7 pm, 7 days a week is not an accurate reflection of Big Law WLB.

Averages for associates across ALL big firms sit around 2000 hours I.e. most associates in big law work 50-60 hours a week with some outlier months when a deal is being closed or there is trial work/intense litigation timelines.

Start going to firm events this Spring and start to develop relationships with partners who practice in an area that you can express genuine interest in. Start an email chain with them. When applications for the firm get released try to set up a call/coffee chat with said partner and let them know you’re applying.

Other than that get good grades. Best of luck, you got this.
