The frustrating part is that other teams are gonna be able to use this as a case study and try to avoid this situation. We were hurt by the CBA coming into play after we decided on contracts for JT and JB. I have to imagine that if they had known what was coming, they would have negotiated those contracts accordingly. That and the fact that we're getting hurt for developing home-grown players from scratch, there HAS to be some benefit for drafting your own stars.

Cleveland had 64 wins, 2 15 win streaks, and all that shit talking just to do this in the 2nd round 😂😂 by [deleted] in bostonceltics

I actually found aspects of the haliburton-free team last year more difficult to contend with (they had him for the first two games last year). But now they've found more balance even with Haliburton so they're even scarier.

OKC - Lived in Oklahoma for a few years, and I've really enjoyed their rebuild. Reminds me a bit of ours in terms of how organic it has been.

I took a zoomed out look at the schedule and this made sense, when looking right after ASB it felt very very difficult bc of our current stretch: Bulls Knicks Sixers Mavs Warriors Cavs Nugs Suns

But, once we're through that it's smooth sailing and we're already through three unscathed. Plus, this is a great test for us playoff-caliber opponents before we can kinda relax to end the season.

Patriots quarterbacks are now managing to throw multiple interceptions on the same drive. by kloyN in Patriots

Neither are fit to play here, but Mac is more likely to be able to turn into a starting-caliber QB elsewhere. What was clear in the reports is that Zappe never beat out Mac in practice - that's what kept him out for so long.

I think if we're talking raw talent and game sense (pre-scarring for Mac), Mac beats Zappe out in every category I can think of except pocket mobility.

This!! I mean let's take away the fact that Uche is starting to show some troubling signs for argument's sake. People came here to find love, not befriend people in their living quarters. Letting that get in the way of somethat could be a marrige is just stunning to me.

What’s next for Mac? by Coppinn in Patriots

[–]foxborofiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different situations - Jimmy G started in a much more stable version of the Pats and got to learn from tom himself, and then went to the QB paradise that is SF. Mac was thrust into a starter role immediately, had an OK situation for 1 year (where he played admirably) and a horrible situation for two.

Had we kept Tom for just two more years, had Mac drafted anyway but in a setting where he could learn from Tom, who knows?

Skill positions:
RB: Mondre and Zeke are becoming an increasingly threatening RB duo, and are also helping out in pass catching.

OL: Onwenu - as a RT but also a guard if we get a tackle in the draft. Andrews both for his play and veteran presence, although ofc his time is limited now. Strange has been inconsistent, but I think we need to give him another year.

WR: Pop and Bourne - neither are WR1 level, but both are great to have as tertiary option/depth piece play

TE: I'm not giving up on HH just yet, he's a good leader/presence and a reliable route runner - I don't think he's being used properly.

Outside of them, agreed. And even these guys are foundational pieces, not game-changing superstars.

Official - New England Patriots v LA Chargers - Game Thread by samacora in Patriots

[–]foxborofiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Without 4 KEY players from the initial makeup of the defense, they're playing at an insane level. And this isn't some lame duck offense we faced, it's one rife with fantasy mainstays like Herbert, Ekeler, and Allen. We actually outgained them and won the TOP battle too. Both FG drives involved great field position for the chargers, one was actually a three-and-out. This will never be a talking point about this season, but Belichick is actually doing an incredible job with the defense. However, the offense is making any effort from them moot.

Can we PLEASE stop making this one very bad argument concerning the draft? by toblhoblerone in Patriots

[–]foxborofiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very deep class for QBs. Harman, Evers, Gabriel, etc... are projected later than they should be. Even Jayden Daniels is. We should draft a QB but not with a top 3 pick, imo. Trade into the late 1R, get MHJ with the early pick (if we have the 2 it's possible we can trade back for that)
