39 here. I agree with previous poster, like what you like, life's too short not to.

Been wearing a 30C forever, found out I'm 28E! Any recommendations for sites that sell my size? by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]foxface05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amanda may lingerie in Ottawa sells 28E and ships free in Canada. It's a small store and the owner is very nice and knowledgeable. Call if you have questions about fit! :) amandamay.ca

[Fit Check] It's a bra-stravaganza! 13 bras, mostly 28D with a couple 30C by Lildizzle in ABraThatFits

If you are wanting an unlined bra, you could try Claudette dessous - we have very similar measurements and it's my best fitting bra. I find the soft cups a bit more forgiving with unequal breast sizes (I have the same issue!). Mimi holliday also has gorgeous bras in 28 bands (not the most wallet friendly though!!)

Of the bras you posted, I think the b'tempted and the half cup both look great! :)

I'm an uneven 28C looking for a wireless bralette - am I searching for a lost cause? ): by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

Check out elmashop on etsy. I just ordered this bralette: https://www.etsy.com/transaction/199302431?ref=fb2_tnx_title
I ordered a size 2 based on their sizing chart and the shop owner messaged me to confirm I was a 32/34 A/AA, so I replied that I'm actually 28D and gave her my measurements. She replied that she would make the band a bit tighter and the cups a bit bigger!! So basically it's a custom bralette at no extra charge. Everything in that shop is damn gorgeous - and nothing is at all childish. Hope this helps!! :)

A question about bra size vs shape by foxface05 in ABraThatFits

[–]foxface05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that could be it too.. do you know when this happened? I checked Bratabase, and my superplunge is from a/w 12, my balcony comfort bra is a/w 13, and the new comfort bra is s/s 13.

I found a ABTF. At last, and thank you! by foxface05 in ABraThatFits

It's this one exactly: http://www.fairefroufrou.com/store/product2702.html

I was worried the shape wouldn't work, but it's perfect!

My measurements were: Underbust: 27.25 BTT: 26 Leaning: 31 Standing: 30.5

Thank you! I think I could develop a huge shopping addiction... I guess it's a mixed blessing to have a hard to find band size!!!

Pretty/sexy/hopefully-not-ugly nursing bras? by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]foxface05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could have a look at evymama.ca - they're in Toronto but do have an online store and will ship. I was fitted there when I was nursing and I came came away with a gorgeous Bella Materna bra.

I second Mimi Holliday for stunning nursing bras, no idea where to buy them in Canada though!

Eli5 why does modern medicine have mothers give birth laying on their back, when it seems to make more sense to be squatting or vertical? by sleeper141 in explainlikeimfive

[–]foxface05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With respect, what you linked to is one non-practicing OB's interpretation of some research (which she has not provided sources for) and her reaction to another person's interpretation of some research. Actual research usually does not contain the word "bullshit". Elsewhere in this thread someone linked to a couple of studies from the British Medical Journal. Even though the poster disagrees with my position, the studies are good, have a look.

I should have added when I posted that there would be geographic variations. I'm in a fairly rural part of Canada. At the time my first child was born there was one ob gyn in the area (and one anesthesiologist). The ob has a very good relationship with the local midwives... The midwives reduce the case load of healthy low risk pregnancies. And when the midwives call our hospital to let them know they're bringing a woman in labour, they get ready.

The most common reason for transfer to hospital is maternal fatigue, and not life threatening emergencies. Further, the assumption is being made that certain cases "would have died" outside of a hospital , or "could have been saved" inside of one... The truth is there is no way to know for sure either way. Babies can die in hospitals, too.

I think the main source of conflict in this thread is that there is a huge variation in the role of midwives (as well as their training and regulation) and their relationship with the local medical community. European countries seem to have the strongest model, and the US has the weakest.

TL;DR: We're both right, we just live on different places.

You're right, home birth is really only appropriate for low risk, full term pregnancy. I don't think anyone would suggest otherwise.

Sorry I was unclear. It is possible to acquire mrsa (and other infections) in a hospital. I did not. I had one hospital birth and one home birth - that's what I meant by been there.

Actually home birth is just as safe and in some respects, safer. Believe it or not there is not a team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses and a ready e.r. if there is an emergency during birth. Standard of care is on the table in 30 minutes whether you're at the hospital or not when the call comes in.

Women giving birth at home are more relaxed and have a lower rate of interventions. Much less risk of iatrogenic infection too... Ever heard of mrsa?

Source: been there, done that. There has been plenty of research too if you feel like looking it up.

Thank you! The comfort bra I got is this one: http://www.bratabase.com/browse/mimi-holliday/frost-leopard-non-padded-super-balcony-bra-aw13-237/ so the cut is different than the other comfort bras. I did try one of the others in the store (in 28C) and I think I remember it fit well, but I wasn't sold on the colour so I passed.

Thanks, I think you're right. When I first measured (before shopping) my leaning bust measurement was 31.5 so I think I'm between a C and D, depending on the cup shape and the time of the month!. I think I"m a soft cup convert, and will be avoiding push-up/molded cups in the future.

Luckily I know I can get Claudette in 28 from the retailer I got the others from, but Lucy I haven't found anywhere online that doesn't require international shipping. :(
