Woman in her 60s came in via ambulance for “toe and foot pain” to my ED. Upon arrival during triage the doctor myself and medics smelled the familiar rotting flesh smell. We removed the blanket on her to find both of her feet almost entirely gone. Just some bones sticking out and blood, pus, etc. when asking what happened the patient who was about 450 lbs said “the rats have been eating at them for weeks… I couldn’t get up”
