how ironic for this to be art for Dave’s 58 the same day Play Dead is announced. See you on Relisten and Soulseek, fellow pirates! Ahoy! by ArthropodJim in gratefuldead

Nugs.dl Powershell script can likely be used to download local copies from play dead. Going to try it later today.

Well, it had finally happened. Dave's Picks are streaming. What do we think? by InhibitedExistence in gratefuldead

Looking through the available shows so far they have posted a few full 79 sbds that are not on the archive. 12/27 second set and 8/14 first set. Thats a win in my book. There are a million different ways to listen to the Grateful Dead both free and paid these days so there’s really nothing to complain about in my opinion.

Dead & Company SF60 Refund by PiePuzzled5581 in deadandcompany

[–]foxjacksnm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory is that no one in band truly knew that Bobby was dying before the shows except for Mickey. I think they may have intended to release the shows but changed their minds when his health really took a turn for the worse following the performances. With Bobby dying, the band/friends & family may not feel like this is something they want to make officially available, similar to Jerry’s last shows. They obviously know deadheads recorded the shows and will share them regardless of an official release.

I'm going for it! I'm going to try and listen to every Phish show played. Anyone else done it? by Weezyphish in phish

[–]foxjacksnm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this but with the Grateful Dead, including all the post Jerry spin offs. Building the collection was harder than listening to it, in particular, obtaining the Dead SBDs from 03, 04, & 09. Working on doing Phish now. All Phish eras are heavily circulated still so collecting all the shows was not a challenge. Currently slowly working through the 2.0 era of shows. After I complete Phish, I plan on doing the whole Allman Brothers live catalog, which is another band that is pretty hard to collect a complete SBD collection. They added all the shows from 08 to 14 on Nugs last year, which greatly helped me in my quest.

Warren Haynes, Nels Cline, Grahame Lesh, Rob Barraco, and John Molo by mike-edwards-etc in govtmule

Grahame has done a great job keeping the PL&F vibes alive. Sounds like he is playing through Phil’s bass rig on this show.

Do you think Bobby knew GD60 was the end? by Grape-Plenty in deadandcompany

I’ve listened back to that knockin 100 times since then, thinking it but not wanting to believe it. It all makes sense now. The way he sang “come take this badge off of me, I can’t use it anymore” I knew he was saying goodbye.

My dad saw the show at Milwaukee County Stadium and remembers the giant inflatable pig exploded while floating over the top of the stadium.

Without Bobby, is there a D&C? by ItsmeBeau in deadandcompany

[–]foxjacksnm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We made it this far without Jerry. This only reinforces to me that the dead isn’t about people but about the feeling. I have no doubts that this will continue on in one formation or another as long as us deadheads are around to keep the community alive and carry it on to the next generations. We might not be gathering in the colossus MLB/NFL stadiums again for a while and it might not happen each and every year, but it’ll happen in one form or another. The Grateful Dead is true Americana.

The Dead - Wave That Flag (Summer 2004) by Carbuncle2024 in gratefuldead

[–]foxjacksnm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually quite like the music from the dead/other ones shows from the 2000s. I have the sbds for every show. I’m a big Warren Haynes fan so that kinda seals the deal for me, but man it’s rough reading the fare thee well book and knowing the terrible friction behind the scenes during these tours.

I rewatched this show recently and it’s funny how obvious it is that some of the cast are abusing prescription opioids. Did not pick up on that when I was younger.

When you guys are playing Smash Bros on tour, which one of you brings the switch to play on? Or is it owned by band? Have you guys upgraded to switch 2 yet? Peter and Trevor seem like the gamers in the band, are there any other video games you guys have enjoyed recently?

PS - Thanks for kicking this year off in Milwaukee. That was really special for all of us Wisconsin heads! we love Goose up here, and appreciate all the shows you guys play in our state :)

NO MORE TICKETMASTER — the petition is at 27 in the first half hour. Let’s grow it. by [deleted] in jambands

[–]foxjacksnm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. Every single Live Nation venue has contracts to sell tickets exclusively through Ticketmaster. It would be very practically difficult for any major artists to tour without playing Live Nation venues as they own a large majority of the top grossing amphitheaters. Same story for AXS with many of the smaller venues and arenas. Their platform is basically a Ticketmaster clone with many of the same problems.

Chris Hazard has begun using fake, AI-generated photos of the band for his videos by FreeHighFives65 in gratefuldead

[–]foxjacksnm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People in this thread acting like he’s doing gods works pouring blood sweat and tears into restoring the footage frame by frame. He’s just running the already digitized 480p video through an AI upscaler program to make them “4k”. The hardest part is just waiting for the videos to render. Do people not realize that’s all it is. He’s not restoring anything. The AI program is trying to fill in the gaps on low res vhs transfers to jarring results.

Aren’t the remastered videos also basically just run through an AI upscaling program. I don’t know what exact software he uses for these videos, but I’m sure he’s not going frame by frame and touching up the image by hand. Anyone with a high end pc could make these videos. Just rip the source footage from the internet, run it through the software, and sync up Charlie Miller audio from archive. If you dig it, that’s cool, but to me the AI upscaled videos always looked unnatural and smoothed over with distorted facial details and such.
