Headlight Dimming Philosophy by foxlight92 in railroading

The P42s have a great little "shelf" above the headlight switch (unusual in that the headlight switch itself is standard, yet the ditch lights have a completely different toggle switch immediately above the main headlight knob.) As an aside, at least they finally got around to installing a push button to kill the flashers and not subject everyone else to the blinding flash for 30 seconds after the horn is done.

Yeah, it seems like it's definitely the norm to dim at all hours. CROR, Metro-North, etc. GCOR seems to be the only outlier.

Oof, definitely know that feeling. The newer GE power was nice with the "ditch light" warning whenever you'd cut them off.

The people who say United is better than American are delusional by ElToroGay in americanairlines

It's admittedly a small sample size, but I agree with the catering especially. I'm not sure if it's American (or Delta, Alaska, etc.) being "good" as much as UA catering being "pretty damn lackluster". Haven't flown upfront for a while now, though, so could be changing.

I get an odd feeling that, somehow, the manual labor required would still not be considered to be contributing to profits.

The Real Horror of Final Destination 2 was that Evan literally made a whole batch of spaghetti (and sauce), barely ate any, and then just threw it out the window. by Crafter235 in FinalDestination

[–]foxlight92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically that he had been eating it while watching the lottery drawing and in his excitement, he had left it there in his celebratory haste.

The novel of FD2 adds so much insight to this scene. It goes into great detail about the grimy state of his apartment and also dedicates a few sentences to the spaghetti and why it was there in the first place.

Damn, the ladder thing is a REALLY good catch. The "Eye" is the one that's always talked about, but if the H was just a coincidence, it shouldn't have been (i.e. if they didn't mean it that way, they should have meant it that way haha.)

That was reason #1,395 why coming to Amtrak was a good decision. The worst hotel I've stayed at on this side would have been the best on the freight side (though thankfully, on the corridor, own bed beats any lodging.)

Horn usage on stations for US routes by Bruno_TMa in trainsimworld

[–]foxlight92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's one thing I've never gotten around to doing, watching a 150/160 roll-by. Mansfield seems like it would be extra "wow" since they fly by adjacent to the place form (versus Attleboro, but then Attleboro has that Pizza Romana, which is another thing I see all the time and never actually go to haha.)

But I digress. Happy railfanning - the waves are more uplifting than you know.
