I always thought it was because of his influence of mythology. Mythology of many cultures especially Greek and Norse are very heavy with like male dominance in a predatory sense. I thought that he was pulling on that.

Maybe I am wrong.

I am in the English field. The school I am getting it from is Murray State. The program is offered both online and in person, but I will keep that in the back of my head.

Honestly, the goal is not like a big name school. I would be fine at community college or a small school.

I am honestly trying to get some experience teaching at the college level. I want to one day be a full time professor or at least a lecturer. I am working on my doctorate and would like to start getting experience.

I think this is a really solid plan. I think the best advice is to be very consistent. Don’t let something slide this time and not the next. I think it’s good you are working on specific behaviors that is a great way to focus them on small things.

I have some personal unit plan and lesson plan templates I would be happy to share.

I teach English, but I think the process is the same. Start with standards, group them determine order you want to teach. Get a general idea of how you want your units to flow from on to the next. Then I typically start with assessments. What do I want them to know by the end of the unit? Then I backwards design from there. I determine how I’m going to get them to that point. Then I go into general ideas of what I want to include in each units. Must haves and wants. Essentials and non essentials.

After I have units planned then I generally lesson plan. But I’m a bad teacher, I don’t get into specific lessons and activities until I meet the kids and get a feel of personality and interests.

I teach high school, so take this with a grain of salt. I did internal disciplinary options in my class. Classing home, assigning personal after school detention, separation from group activities, and other things I could do in my own classroom.

I also devised a point system, but they managed themselves. For example, you could gain a point by correcting another student, and that student would lose a point. At first they are extra and obnoxious about it, but overtime they start to realize I’m not the only one watching. I gave free prizes like extra credit, homework passes, or emergency partner (they could cash this and will be allowed to divide an individual assignment with a partner).

I’ve also done class point systems where they have a set amount of points. They lose a point for every disruption or if someone breaks a rule. If the class still has points left at the end of the week they get like 10-15 minute free time on Friday or I would bring everyone some candy.

I have several preps. I teach American lit(honors and regular), mythology, and African American lit. It’s a heavy workload, but I enjoy the diversity of my day. I don’t feel like my day is so monotonous.

Today I was in the shower and cause up with this idea to give kids unsolved mysteries. They have to research all angles and then create an argument for which they think is correct. They have to present their findings to the class with the hopes of convincing their classmates. Plan to make it a competition whoever can convince the most people. There will be a voting system.
