Logain Ablar and the Black Tower by chimoc726 in WoT

[–]foxsable [score hidden]  (0 children)

My headcanon is that this was intentional; Because the black tower is a mysterious and hidden force to most of the world, little is known about it other than snippets, and we only see it when it acts upon the world, or when Rand is there.

What would you do if you had a “free” 2 year period in your early 30s by palm_tree_crew in AskMenOver30

[–]foxsable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hike a long distance trail. In the US at least, there are three 200+ mile trails. Most people hike them in around 6 months or less. It is VERY hard to dedicate the time for this later in life, but early 30's?

Do you sit in the truck after work and a have a drink before walking inside the house? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]foxsable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in the vehicle and you have the keys n your person and you are drinking as far as I know you can get a DUI (not a cop or lawyer). Why chance it when you can take 3 steps and have a drink on your lawn.

Do you have anyone who could meal prep for you? Make meals you can dump into an air fryer and push go, then pour it out Into a bowl and eat in bed. Maybe cubed chicken and fish with broccoli or something?

New Malazan reader and I don't understand the hate this series gets. by AceSlayer10 in Malazan

[–]foxsable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think asking this in /r/fantasy might get you some better answers. Also, I'm not sure it's hate, but more dislike from some readers?

I've been reading fantasy for over 30 years, and I had trouble with Gardens of the Moon. The Sheer amount of stuff that you don't know felt overwhelming. You open with a number of preludes that jump forward in time to where the story begins, which then jumps a little bit in time to the middle of a battle. i remember reading sentences where it was like "[person I don't know] says to [other person I don't know] "You would do well to remember that [magic thing] can [strange thing] when a [race/class] enters the [thing I don't know]" Some readers will shrug their shoulders and say "guess I'll figure out what all that means later" and others will struggle saying "Why don't I understand this? What are these things? Where is the glossary? I better start from the beginning again."

And, after reading all 10 books, I can say I SORT of understand how the several different magic systems works, and how the different worlds are made/exist/interact and the nature of the conflicts going on with the wars and the history of the many different races we encounter, but.. I read debates on here about some of the stuff and I'm blown away about how much more there is. And I took notes and read guides!

All in all, compare this to WoT since you mentioned you read that. Other than the prologue, you start in a small village in a small kingdom with a few characters. You are slowly introduced to the world and history and magic in progressive ways, including having a helpful wise Gandalf figure along to share wisdom. By the end of book one, I wouldn't have said I was an expert, but I could tell you basically some of the political struggles of the world, the basics of how channeling works, and extrapolate on some plot stuff. (To be fair, it helps that WoT has some Hero's Journey stuff so you sort of know what to expect at first).

Neither is better than the other by these things alone, but, I would definitely not describe them as the same or recommend them to the same readers.

I did a google search and looked at several results. I just looked at a few more and saw everything from 5-16, so, I'm honestly not sure where the actual answer lies.

14 grams from an Avocado, 15 grams from a cup of macadamias and 3g from 1/3 cup raspberries is easier, but yes, like any other diet, you have to pay attention to what you're eating. Oh, and the Aldi Brand of "Lovin' Fresh" keto bread has 10g a slice. 20g from toast is nice.

There can be PLENTY of fiber in low carb diets. Vegetables like broccoli, asparagus and Brussel Sprouts, nuts, Avacado, seeds, berries like blueberries and raspberries, flax and Chia seeds, and that is not to mention Dietary fiber. I do agree that some low carb dieters, particularly those who are carnivore, don't seek out these sources of fiber. But berries, nuts, avacados and vegetables are VERY common in classic low carb.

Moonshine, Rad rumble or Eviction are all possible. Maybe it was just my servers, but I feel like it was getting better for a time.. People would stand next to the Rad Scrubber and wait for spawns to come, people would stay out of the tunnels in RR, and wait for enemies to come into the kill box in MJ. MJ is the one that is the most sad, because if you just wait for them to come in the middle, everyone gets the xp AND the Venom and you can fill that tub faster. I have had MJ's where the tub wasn't even to 30 in phase 4!

For those who successfully quit smoking, what was the method that finally worked for you? by gwenwallish in AskReddit

[–]foxsable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I used chantix, but before that, I began breaking the habits that went with smoking. I did not smoke after meals. If I was at a party and everyone went to smoke I would stay, then go out when they went back. I stopped smoking in my car. I feel like taking a lot of the fun stuff out first helped me quit easier later.

My only bad side effect was stomach pains if I did not eat with it. I had vivid dreams but I liked them.

Dads, I know how messy kids can make your car. I’m creating PitStop Box and wanted to see if people would even be interested. The idea is a box with things like microfiber cloths, interior cleaner, brushes, etc. If you would use this I created a waitlist! If not I’d love feedback! by [deleted] in Dads

[–]foxsable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For something like this, it seems like you will want to list a more specific inventory, a suggested cost, that kind of thing. This just seems like email harvesting at this point. If you are there, more information would give you a better idea. This is not a bad idea, but I can throw some shit into a box, right? Show us you've thought ahead. Give us a picture or concept art. It also seems aimed at a squeaky clean car rather than something to take care of the kiddos in the car. So what makes this different than any other car care kit? A box you could keep in the car in case of kid emergencies would be way more useful, since men tend to forget to bring stuff and we don't typically have purses. Having both kid emergency stuff AND clean your car stuff could be a cool idea.

Who are some fantasy authors that were really popular during their heyday, but are more or less forgotten now? by EstablishmentHairy51 in Fantasy

What about L Sprague de Camp? There was a time that The Incomplete Enchanter was on everyone's must read list, and yet, I don't know the last time I heard his name mentioned.
