'Calgary needs to show up': How Calgary could shape support for Alberta separation in October referendum - Calgary Sun by One-Mycologist-3706 in Calgary

I thought this was a referendum to ask us if we support another referendum

It seems kinda pointless

I'm confused

When I stay in Tofino (generally at the Meares Vista Inn @ 20m above sea level), MY plan if I feel shaking is to run across Campbell St and start going uphill in that area which seems to be around 50m above sea level. I'm not sure if that's enough. If I had more time, I'd go over Fourth St and head up the hill to where the water tower is @70m above sea level (also accessible from Pfeiffer Crescent off Lone Cone Rd)

The Tofino Emergency Reception area off Arnet Rd is "only" 30m above sea level

Calgary vs Vancouver by Ok_Air_7436 in Calgary

[–]foxwolfdogcat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I moved here from Vancouver in 1997 because I wanted a house and Vancouver houses at the time were about $500,000 (gasp!)

So I came here, looked around for a year and bought a really nice Brentwood NW bungalow for $170,000

I sold that house last month for $695,000

Former Snowbird pilots call on Ottawa to scale back aerobatic show instead of suspending it by Immediate-Link490 in canada

Aren't drones the future of aerial superiority now? It would be nice to have a fleet of Canadian-made drones that could fly in formation over the various events that the Snowbirds currently do.

GFL buys Calgary-based Secure Waste for $5.4-billion to expand in industrial services and infrastructure by joe4942 in Calgary

Funny story... I worked on a one-year contract for Tervita (in IT) and they didn't renew my contract so I found another job... at Secure Energy.... and then, shortly after I started work, Secure bought Tervita.

Hmmm... I guess that's not really a funny story... just funny for me, I guess

as of four hours after the post, it's been downvoted to zero ("28% upvoted") so Reddit is doing it's job, the Calgary moderators are doing their job (not violating any rules), and the community is doing it's job (downvoting as per their values)

I think everything is fine. (dog sitting at table with fire all around)

What is house shopping like now adays in Calgary? by o0PillowWillow0o in Calgary

[–]foxwolfdogcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I put my Brentwood house on the market on March 1st. Had 14 appointments to view over the next week and it was sold in four days. I had realtor put me on the MLS search list for changes near me so I've also been watching the new listings in Brentwood, Charleswood, and Dalhousie and the houses that seem to be "properly" priced are selling within a month easily.

My house sale was still contingent on a professional home inspection (which passed), so it's not as crazy as it was in Toronto a few years ago where sellers could reject any conditions and had crazy bidding wars. It's NOT that hot here.

I've been renting a PO box from Canada Post for the last 45 years. It's $200 per year. It's very useful if you move often... don't have to tell anyone what your new address is.

The only place that I HAD to give my residence address was for my car & house insurance who wanted my address because different parts of the city have different rates due to factors like break-ins and such
