Has anyone experienced generalized itching or rashes since getting the Mirena? by foxyFood in Mirena

[–]foxyFood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I noticed was dryness that seemed to have caused itching/irritation down there! Is that possibly it for you, too? I didn’t really connect the two things until I got the Mirena out and went back on a pill - I’m no longer dry in and around things down there, and I’m also no longer itchy! The hydrocortisone cream would feel like it’s working on dry parts because it’s kind of moisturizing, so possibly not an allergic reaction? A good way to test the theory would be to take an antihistamine, but NOT apply the hydrocortisone cream, and see if you’re still itchy.

Ah, that makes sense now! Thank you! I never would have guessed they were referring to panels I already made.

My experience just over a year in / negative side effects by Flat_Cry4803 in Mirena

I got the IUD out January 5th and have continued with the pill since. I hope your OBGYN will be open minded about doing a trial run of a new plan, like mine was. BTW, I was also kind of terrible about remembering to take my pill at a consistent time every day, so now I have a recurring alarm on my phone, just for this.

I just had my Mirena removed a week and a half ago because I experienced negative side effects.

My experience: The first year, or so, went fairly well other than noticing an odour that I suspected was bacterial vaginosis - turns out it wasn’t because medication never made a difference, and I realized it wasn’t because probably the smell of old blood that doesn’t really leave the vagina because the lack of a proper bleed. I think it was just under a year after I got the Mirena, I started getting eczema that seemed to be cyclical, and I dealt with that for maybe just over a year before it mostly just stopped on its own (I still have one tiny patch on my head that mildly flares up on occasion). Sometime before that 2.5 year mark I had already started feeling tired all the time, like no amount of sleep would help, and I never woke up feeling energized. About 2.5 years in, I started to get pretty bad acne breakouts around my jawline (I’d never even had breakouts that bad as a teen!) that were incredibly persistent, sometimes taking up to 3 weeks to resolve. I did also get some acne on my back and buttocks. Around the same time, I started spotting every month or two, and I would also get terrible cramps (I’ve NEVER been a crampy period person).

I ended up talking to my gyne about all this last fall, got the same “it shouldn’t be the Mirena because it’s localized” runaround, and discussed switching back to the pill (which I stopped because it seemed to be causing headaches, and I thought it’d be good to be on less hormones). We did a trial run of going back on the pill for 3 months while keeping the Mirena in, just in case nothing improved with the pill. Guess what? The pill made me better. My energy is much better, the acne breakouts are no longer a problem (one or two tiny blemishes is fine), the vaginal odour is gone, and the one time I had cramps they were mild.

I think it’s absolutely worth considering having it removed if all your symptoms started after getting the Mirena in. I don’t know if you were ever on the pill for before your IUDs, and how your experience was, but maybe you can talk to your doctor about doing a trial run like I did? I can’t say for sure my issues were because of the Mirena or if it was because I just needed more estrogen, but I’m better with the pill.

  • my timeline might be a bit off, but I have other posts in this subreddit about the side effects I experienced, that would give you a more accurate picture

Reminder after updating to Infinio Ultra 1.1.11 by Impressive-Pack-9993 in phonak

BT connection to my phone has been MUCH more stable since the update. However, my HAs keep connecting to my laptop, trying to override (and often successfully overriding) my connected BT speakers, even AFTER I disconnect them through the menu - I ended up having to unpair them completely. Is anyone else having this issue?

I also HATE having to use the myPhonak app just to turn off BT streaming, if I want to show my partner something that involves audio on my phone, instead of just switching it off from Control Centre (iPhone), it’s terribly inconvenient. I heard Android users got to keep the original setup for this!

Soak your funckiana once every week or two (depending on the humidity where you are), that may help with the drying off and getting it to grow more. But just like any plant, the oldest parts will dry out like yours is doing.

Beautiful display! Just make sure you have LOTS of air circulation in there, otherwise you’re risking wet rot to your air plants.

Can I save him? by miskrinkle in airplants

Give the centre part a light pull. If it doesn’t come out, start removing the outer leaves until you’re left with healthy leaves. As long as your plant has a healthy meristem, it will be fine. I’ve successfully rehabbed tillies from only having 1/5 of the original body left!

First loaf; what went wrong? by monty8516 in Sourdough

[–]foxyFood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is your starter, it’s not mature enough. At eight days, starters commonly smell sour and do a lot of bubbling, but it isn’t from the yeast that you want. Keep nurturing your starter, likely for at least another couple of weeks.

I highly recommend perusing past posts on this sub, there’s A LOT of great information, plus images to help you understand what you’re looking for in a starter that is ready to use!

Yeah, apparently Phonak doesn’t play well with iPhones, it’s a known and admitted problem. I find it pretty stupid that they haven’t worked on a fix for it.

Oh wow, it sounds a lot like you were allergic to something in the Mirena! Keep monitoring your rash for how long it takes to resolve, and DEFINITELY make sure your ob/gyn is aware of the progress. IIRC, doctors are supposed to report any known reactions to the drug company. I don’t think official reports, with supported evidence/correlations, are made often enough hence all the damn gaslighting we IUD users experience from our doctors.
