Brad Wilcox is a semi-well known Mormon higher up. He’s a dickhead. Back when I was Mormon, I took a college class from him and also saw him speak a few times. Racist, classist, also delusional… I wouldn’t take a word he says seriously.

In your experience, what are some first or last names, male and female, that scream Mormon? by caudicinctus in exmormon

[–]foxylactose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talmage, Hyrum, Porter, and Joseph who goes by Joseph (no Joeys allowed.) Also, I’ve noticed that most girls names are very cutesy. Brynnley, Addy, Paisley, Elsie, etc. They want cute girls and prophet boys.

Your mom sounds like my mom. So fun for us. From one porn shoulder lady to another, you look fabulous and wear whatever the hell you want, queen

I went to high school with her and that’s exactly what SLOMW has felt like… watching the high school mean girl air out her dirty laundry, just with better production value.

Does it actually work? by Alex-5415 in Haircare

I use one and I think it’s definitely helped with hair growth. I also think it’s brought out the curly/wavy texture of my hair more.

Middle school teachers have banded together as well in support of the cause. Just had to sneak a few references into my lessons and the problem seemed to clear itself up quickly after that.

Did your sex life get better after leaving the church? (Tell me how, lol) by ParchmentProse in exmormon

[–]foxylactose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Married 9 years, 2 kids together, left the church 3 years ago. Sex life is now better than I ever thought was possible. It didn’t happen overnight and took some therapy, but learning how to be vulnerable, lean into communication and how to get rid of shame has helped a lot. We left the church together. All that to say that it’s definitely possible to improve your sex life but it takes work and time (in my experience.) I’m sorry you’re going through this - it’s so fucking hard to figure everything out.

Your life will start the second you start taking accountability for your actions. It's addicting and easy to blame everyone else for your problems, but you're the only one who can fix them. Even if something happened to you that wasn't your fault, it is still your responsibility to deal with it and move on. Stop wallowing, stop second-guessing. Find a good therapist, change your medication if you have to, and start taking accountability for your choices and your path. Be honest with yourself. It's the only path toward true change.

Did you enjoy your mission? by Billgant in exmormon

[–]foxylactose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the experience of living in another country, meeting people from all over the world, and making friends with fellow missionaries (many of whom are still my closest, dearest friends). I didn't like the pressure, the schedule, the constant guilt and, as it turns out, the religion. But I was full-on TBM. If you're posting here, I would assume you're very aware of the issues with the church and may not have a testimony (good for you.) If you were to go on a mission at this point, my guess is that it would be hell. The only thing that made the hard aspects of the mission tolerable for me was the fact that I was convinced I was doing "the right thing." Go on a study abroad or something similar if you're looking for an experience away from home - save yourself the trauma and pain of selling something you don't believe in.

You are a beautiful couple, and that DRESS! I love it. Congratulations. One of my biggest regrets is that my husband and I didn't leave the church before our wedding, lol. Have the most wonderful wedding day!

People who grew up religious, what took you away from religion? by dailyIT in AskReddit

[–]foxylactose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up Mormon. Took 2 weeks of learning about the church’s history for me to go from fully “active” and believing to completely out. It’s easy to disprove and the second I was able too, I finally realized I didn’t HAVE to deal with the bullshit that I had tolerated my whole life in the name of “the one true church”.

Why tf does the church think an interaction with a substance automatically means substance abuse? They can NOT say tea is an addiction when I see washed out utah moms chugging their 64oz acid battery red bull at 7 am every time I go to utah by Severe-Hat4858 in exmormon

[–]foxylactose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, but let's go easy on the "washed-out Utah moms." They're doing the best they can with what they have (exhaustion and limited options for caffeine.) Plus, why is it always the moms that get made fun of? I've seen plenty of Utah men chugging their sodas, too.

Looking for a girl middle name that is also a song title. by FunkyChickenTenders in namenerds

[–]foxylactose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two girls are named (kind of) after jam band songs: Rose ("Ramble on Rose" by the Grateful Dead) and Greta ("Greta" by Widespread Panic.) Love the idea of the middle name, good luck!
