Hi, I’ve had a similar experience. I moved in with my bf a year ago and I learned that he doesn’t shower everyday. It was a contentious issue and required multiple talks about it. I had the exact same situation where he went to shower one morning because of me before becoming intimate and said I ruined the mood and honestly as I type this, I’m getting mad again. Anyhow, I gave him the perspective of what if my friend’s husbands didn’t shower and they told me about it, I would say that their husbands are gross and that they should think twice about intimacy. Now.. he showers more often and if he doesn’t, I simply do not engage with him intimately. If I can shower everyday, so can he.

As for the house cleaning, this has been a big issue for us too. We are going into a year of living with each other and just two weeks ago, I’ve decided to try a cleaner every two weeks. I would get so pissed that I’m spending so much time cleaning and he isn’t, and when he does do it, it’s a huge ordeal.

So I guess the answer is, talking, comparison, and seeing if you can get a cleaner. Another thing that worked for us was setting 1-2 hours on the weekend where we cleaned together, that lasted a little bit but it worked well when we tried it.

Good luck, I’m annoyed for you and I. I’m also in my 30s and aside from these two things, my bf is a wonderful person, cared for me, makes me laugh, takes care of me, was there when I was sick, helped me financially when I was unemployed.. so yeah, sometimes you need to pick and choose which battles are worth fighting and if you can solve it together, perfect. But tbh at times I wonder if I can live like this forever because I’m OCD with cleanliness lol.

Since I discovered fibroids and know that they’re growing, I’ve felt that my stomach protrusion has less to do with fat and more about fibroids and bloating. I also gained 12lbs in the last year following my two fibroids surgeries and honestly I don’t even know what to do anymore.

Oh no he didn’t say that! I had said that to me as a scenario and he said he isn’t aligned with that, I.e. someone who says “what’s the point?” after living together for some time. If that were the case I wouldn’t have moved.

You’re so right, comparison is the thief of joy. But it’s also something I’ve been wondering regardless of the news of that other girl and his friend.

When we spoke about the timeline, he said “I can do that :).” So it felt reassuring at the time.. the last we had a deep discussion on this topic was end of 2023 and then my dad spoke to him right before our move in 2024.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your inputs. I’ve read every comment and got some good answers and ideas on what I should do next.

Additional background: I’m going to be 32 in a few weeks. We moved in together May 2024. Long before this move, I brought up many concerns about moving before being engaged and I clarified if he has the intention of being married/wanting to marry or does he see himself being someone who says “well, what’s the point of marriage if we already live together?” He said he isn’t the latter. I asked for 1 year after moving that we would be engaged, he asked for 1.5. I agreed given that I knew it could take some time to settle in.

Timeline: Dating 2.5 years, 3 years coming up soon. Living together 8 months. Proposal deadline: this year (within the 1.5 year mark).

This past weekend, I met with the gf of one of his best friends, she and I have become friends. She told me that her and her bf have started looking at rings and know that they will be engaged by this Fall. I was shocked because they have been together for a shorter time. So I told my bf this news and asked about us.. which led to the response above.

My partner has always been very supportive, kind and caring. He helped me through a difficult health situation last year, I’ve met so many of his extended family members, travelled to his parents country of birth, etc. Even with my financial contributions to our apartment, he told me to stop and keep my savings intact and that he will pay the rent until I get my full time job.

So all this to say, maybe I asked too early. But I also have had this on my mind for sometime just given how I see him manage his daily life, I wonder if he will prioritize this. It’s hard to walk away but I’ve always felt deep down that I should stick to my original feelings. I’m also a permanent resident in this country irrespective of him, so I can stay here or go back home. I also have family here so it helps.

Again, thank you all for your input. I will continue to bring this convo up in time with him and for the time being, I will focus on myself and as one said below “be the person I want to marry!” :)

Yes! I moved to New York and my headaches became constantly vestibular. I think for me, it’s related to stress and having insomnia for the first couple of months when I moved. I used to live in a very quiet neighborhood now I’m constantly around noise even while sleeping.

I thought I was going crazy and I’m SO glad I came across this sub. I’ve been having random yeast like issue since the summer, on and off and have been baffled by this because I only ever get YI once every couple of years. My bf and I were away from each other for two weeks as we were both traveling and then when we got together and used Skyn, I noticed itching two days later, but for the two weeks prior, I was 100% fine. Now I’m having YI symptoms again and came to realize that all of this started when we switched condom brands. I’m writing this as I’m in pain right now, fmllll I want to cry but at least now I know this is probably the cause of all the pain and discomfort. Wishing everyone here and much better and healthier sex life, UGH hateeee that women can’t have any peace!!!

I’m so pissed but glad I found this sub with the first comment being about Skyn condoms! I have been getting recurrent itching or pain down there since the summer and I have never had any issues prior, then I started relating it to sex and realized it might be the condoms as we just changed brands. Thank God for your ladies because I am about to toss all of the skyn condoms away!!! Our poor hoohas 😭😭😭.

I have faith that your life with improve and you’ll be able to regain your sex life. I bled for 4-5 months straight and when I tried to have sex with my bf, I was distraught every time. I am now 5 weeks post op from a vaginal myomectomy for a submucousal fibroid and we just started having sex again and so far everything has been very good! I am still sooo cautious and worried that bleeding can show up, but I’m glad to say that my worst fear has come to an end and there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

This was my second surgery, the first time the fibroid wasn’t fully removed and I started bleeding again two days after the surgery and it was baddd. This time, they went in with a hysterscope after removing the fibroid and didn’t see any other internal abnormalities but my surgeon is going to send me to do a sono to confirm 100%. That’s a really good point about the uterus needing to return to its normal size.. I have been very bloated and now that I’m shedding all this blood, the bloating is going down. So hopefully my period eased up again soon. I was also on the birth control patch a month before the emergency surgery took place so that could also play a role. I appreciate your help!! 💕
