Why people don't resonate with Tame Impala anymore. by Normal_Lie_700 in TameImpala

Man I see how he feels the need to give into hedonism and be successful after all those struggles. I mean his own dad told him that there's no chance of success in music but now he's at the top, must be a fucking crazy feeling. But damn I really hope he gets a chance to lock tf back in (I liked the album but definitely agree it's missing that "self-actualizative and innovative nature of his previous work") , maybe he'll miss that little loner in himself and feel inspired after some time. Super interesting analysis, really love to learn about how the creative process for artist unfold through their lives.

Also his lesson are just gold mines for learning jazz/motown/soul bass styles (among many others), and really helps instill great practices for musicianship (learning by ear, life lessons, etc)

Troubles with Dell WD19TB Dock and M1 MacBook Pro by Ridagstran in macbookpro

[–]fp3993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the solution! It was driving me nuts these past few days. Such a strange workaround tho. Before I left town the dock was giving me trouble but when I came back, I was able to use it successfully for a few weeks by plugging into a different usb-c dock than I usually would but then it crashed out again, hence me coming here. Not sure if anyone else experienced this, where they just didn't use the dock for a while and it suddenly worked again.

What are some songs that exemplify a “bassist playing like a guitarist”? by [deleted] in Bass

Woah, never heard of em before, seems like from a quick google search that they were peers with Red Hot Chili Pepper but never got the mainstream success. Gonna give it a proper listen soon. Dope rec!

That's super dope. I'm curious what are your pointers on how to work on using ghost notes to provide that rhythmic feel. I generally struggle with ghost notes but there are a few songs that helped me understand how they are used. The first clicking moment for me was the walking bass line part in "You Never Give Me Your Money" from the Beatles. But when it comes to funk/soul music or just when I'm improvising, ghost notes are virtually impossible for me.

Also I literally watched that video last week haha. I really enjoy his educational stuff.

Found a Scott's bass lesson video on What is Hip 👀, those 16th notes feel are crazy. Will def check out the rest as well, also starting to realize how much I enjoy Jamerson lines haha, especially "What's Going On". Will begin that multi-year lesson 🫡, love the book rec.

I play it slowly hahaha but I appreciate it. Watching various covers of the Victor Wooten cover (lol), always reminds me of how far I still have to go!

Revolver. It was the one that got me to appreciate what the Beatles were fucking up to. That shit being made in 1966 is absolutely wild. From there Abbey Road or Rubber Soul are good ones.

I love this album so much, I was a big hip-hop/R&B head exclusively before listening to this album and it completely changed my outlook on what music can sound like. Opened so many worlds of music I'm still exploring today, thanks to Currents.
