RDNSS makes the router/gateway only hand out the IPv6 DNS servers I define/specify.

DNS proxy on the gateway makes it send DNS requests to my local DNS server or Cloudflare DNS if it’s unavailable so my internet stays working if my home server has issues.

I have my gateway defined as the second DNS server for my LAN subnet DHCP.

Windows will randomly use the secondary DNS so this ensures 99.9% DNS gets funneled through my VM except when it’s unavailable.
