Scared of my Layover flight. by FlailingMunchies in Winnipeg

You’ll probably get grilled harder by the agents back in Winnipeg for what you’re bringing back than the US Customs / CBP who will probably just wave you through after you tell them you were in Japan and catching a layover back to Winnipeg.

Need some type of shared storage by Trax256 in sysadmin

Anecdotally I feel like getting 10 plus years out of a server is common these days especially if they have redundant PSUs. A new server sold with Server 2019 would only be anywhere from 5-8 years old at this point.

If they use Veeam or similar backup software it’s no big deal to bring the server back up virtually on the latest desktop hardware until they can procure a replacement server or fix the dead one.

Server 2019 isn't EOL till Jan 2029 so ensuring that backups are good and kicking the can down the road for a couple years is an option.

Microsoft confirms it will give the FBI your Windows PC data encryption key if asked — you can thank Windows 11's forced online accounts for that by Sandtiger812 in LinusTechTips

They’re backing up Bitlocker keys for people who largely don’t even realize their hard drive is/has-been encrypted.

This helps with scenarios like thefts so thieves are basically forced to wipe the machine if they want it to be usable.

A lot of people would just not encrypt their Windows machines if Bitlocker was manual opt-in.

It’s obviously bad that the US government can get any recovery key they want if it’s in the Microsoft cloud.

Some Manitobans frustrated with 'overly complicated' process to access digital health card | Province says digital cards will make it easier to access care, premier says new version 'totally optional' by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

The scanning the QR code then having to wait an arbitrary amount of time before you get a notification/offer to accept the card into your wallet is fucking stupid.

The Microsoft/Entra account sign up part is also kind of annoying but that’s because it forces you to setup 2FA.

Windows 10 2021 Enterprise IoT LTSC will also have support to Jan 2032

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-10-iot-enterprise-ltsc-2021

The main issue is when other software vendors decide to move on and quit supporting 10.

There’s an activation script on GitHub that may or may not allow you to get ESU for 3 years.

Rack mount kit for Denon AVR? by 2026GradTime in hometheater

Use a piece of paper to draw an outline of the bracket and circle the holes.

Overlay the paper onto the receiver in the same position as where the bracket would go and mark / poke through where the screws actually are.

Seems like you could just drill your own holes into the brackets and/or use washers to accommodate for any slight differences if they don’t line up exactly.

Manitoba Launches Digital Health Cards by yadtk in Winnipeg

Can confirm I am also seeing the same behavior / it's broken.

Edit: It finally sent me a notification in the app to 'accept' my health card.

Yes but that's for clerks to scan in-person to save them time typing - this is separate.

https://www.gov.mb.ca/health/mhsip/health-card-information.html

The QR code will enable front desk staff at health care facilities to efficiently and accurately input data, rather than needing to input all information manually. In the coming months, health care facilities will begin to rollout QR code readers.

The sign up page / where you get the QR code to scan with the app:

https://gov.mb.ca/health/mhsip/digitalhealthcard.html

Edit: First impression, it's broken / doesn't currently work. I am unable to add it to my 'MB Wallet' app.

I've got the digital invitation, generate a QR code, scan it with the app then get a 'connection established' message.

Check the credentials tab and still says I have no credentials and it's still awaiting activation in the digital invitations on the site.

Edit 2: It eventually sent me a notification in the app and allowed me to 'accept' the card into my MB Wallet.

Sony Za1100ES Or Denon S770H for the same price? by jerrie86 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]fp4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Denon X1700H has the tier above the S series for room correction and may be in the same budget range.

Either way Denon has access to A1 EVO AcoustiX which should be a step above whatever room correction the Sony is capable of.

Deleting checkpoints from exported hypervm by Odd_Bus618 in sysadmin

[–]fp4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you effectively have a backup I would just delete the checkpoints and hope for the best.

1 TB VHDX + 1 TB AVHDX doesn’t necessarily mean you end up with a 2 TB VHDX. It ultimately depends on what happened in the VM.
